It depends on how many 'Mech one has, and who owns them:
IS Houses/Mercs: a Lance/Company/Battalion/Regiment/Brigade of 'Mechs
ComGuards/WoB: a Level II/Level III/Level IV/Level V/Level VI of 'Mechs
Clans: a Star/Binary/Trinary/Cluster/Galaxy of 'Mechs

Should try to use this canon format. It would be rare that you have a group of all the same mech. a Lance of Atlases sounds better and more serious than what the OP provided. But this thread should be transfered to Jettisoned Communication folder since it pretty funny.

I started it here because I wanted people to see it. It was never meant to become a serious replacement for Lance/Company/Battalion/Regiment/Brigade
although
Level II/Level III/Level IV/Level V/Level VI
and
Star/Binary/Trinary/Cluster/Galaxy
seem just as silly as "A Bruce of Jenners."

il just call any group of hostile mechs a detachment of x (x being the hostile mech in question) much better to have one all encompassing term when **** hits the fan and you need to get the warning out fast.

Oddly, a M-urder of Ravens is both accurate to proper nomenclature and totally awesome. Skein would also be satisfactory.

Sorry to dodge the filter, but it's completely benign.

Jenners : dray or scurry (could be any light/fast mech)

Since 50% of the time 50% of the team seems to go squirrel hunting in the game...(though they know they shouldn't)

inferring that jenners are "squirrels" :

Some references say that a group of squirrels is called a dray, while some indicate that a dray refers specifically to a nest of a mother squirrel and her babies. Other references say that a group of squirrels is called a scurry. Squirrels.org notes that squirrels are actually solitary animals and no group name is officially recognized.

........" Atlas is a 3rd declension noun with a stem that ends in -nt but you don't even need to know that to realize that -us and -as are not the same thing and basic research would have told you that the regular plural for male Greek nouns is -oi not -des or even -es. ..... "

Although it is intuitively obvious that mechs have no gender, some of us refer to them as female..ie.."Ol Betsy"

Don't confuse biological sex and gender with grammatical gender. However, this discussion is beyond 'academic' in the derogatory sense of that word... I think it's closer to surreal now. :-)

It's actually pretty easy. A(n) X, a demi-lance of Xs, a lance of Xs, a demi-company of Xs, a company of Xs, a reinforced company of Xs, and so on.

If you want you can use the ComGuard designations too (Level I for a single unit, Level II for a group of six, etc.).

Or, if you really must, point for one X, star for five Xs, binary for ten Xs, trinary for fifteen Xs, and so on.

Of course, none of the above is really in the spirit for the thread, but I chose to take the OP's question literally, from an in-universe standpoint.

If you want to get more detailed you can even attach things like pursuit, attack, support, recon, battle, etc., giving more of an idea as to specific composition and role for whatever collective you are addressing.
