Would the devs put in a cloak device that would make u invisible unless u fired but u can still be picked up by radar so u can have a radar jammer and cloak

I can only assume from your post that you are not familiar with the BattleTech Universe.

Here, spend some time reading all the information from the above link.

There will be a test later.

To be a little more helpful, check out Line of Sight, and Beagle Active Probe as a good place to start.

An argument could be made for powering down your mech while hiding behind a very large building or three :P

You can put on a cloak for your Mechwarrior, but you should take additional +1 damage per second from flamers to the cockpit.

I don't know from which universe you come, but in one BT book there was indeed an IR/ECM/Stealth sneak personal suit.
(BT book Randall Bills, time line 3065, on new syrtis, mark capella, ... from story line I can't remeber any more, maybe I'll read it again
Name of the book: "drohendes verhängnis", sry I know it only in german.)

As noted in this book, this suit was very expensive and full of sensors etc.
Off cause it can be adapted for a mech, but again, the cost's. Even if you could have so much money, magnetometer would do the job ...
Any way no reason to make this stuff available in MWO. Except if we will play some day some coop missions against some crazy royalty :D
No way people ... you still can use the cover, ecm / null signature.

The Chameleon Light Polarization Shield/Stealth Armor didn't make you invisible, it adapted your camouflage to your background (Null Sig didn't affect your visibility). Think of the way a chameleon or octopus disguises itself opposed to a Romulan cloaking device. I believe that power armor above did the same thing.

They're really the same thing. Capes tend to be shorter and often only cover the back half of a person, but its appropriate to call capes cloaks.

That only covers up radar and heat signatures. I think you mean the chameleon light plarization shield. It does actually make you invisible or close enough, but its uber rare lostech just like the null sig. It also needed to be paired with null sig, otherwise opponents would just pick you up on thermals and laugh at you.

BattleTech already has/had visual cloaking in the form of the Chameleon Light Polarization Shield (SLDF tech from 2630 developed as the companion system to the previously-mentioned Null Signature System; used in the Spectors mentioned in the ISN post on 11/04/2011), Mimetic Armor (deployed by ComStar and WoB in 3061), and the Void Signature System (deployed by WoB in 3070).

In fact, there was an issue of Popular Science from back in the day (May 1997, pg. 54) that included an article mentioning the potential use of electrochromic skins in aircraft for visual stealth purposes...

I was offering Null sig as the closest thing in game we'll have, and you are invisible...to radar ;)

There was also this guy in 2008 I believe - http://www.star.t.u-...EDIA/xv/oc.html

And of course all the magician's in the world with their 'make something huge disappear with mirrors'.

And if they bring in that POS WoT system of % to 'see' the enemy (that somehow fails even when your 20m away in broad daylight...in the desert) I'll be dumping this game...fast.

We have heard the cries of the many. Cloaking will be a Tier 1 Assault/Defense module! You can thank me later.

Sweet, this means my Atlas can slowly creepy behind enemy lines as long as I take it off every few min to let my mech cool down. Thanks Paul!
