Light:
25 tons - Commando (Stiener) - (1) SRM4, (1) SRM6, (1) ML
35 tons - Jenner - (Kurita) - (1) SRM4, (4) ML

Medium:
50 tons - Centurian (Davion) - (1) AC10, (1) LRM10, (1) ML
50 tons - Hunchback (Marik) - (1) AC20, (2) ML, (1) SL

Heavy:
60 tons - Dragon (Kurita) - (1) AC5, (1) LRM10, (1) ML
65 tons - Catapult (Liao) - (2) LRM15, (4) ML

Assault:
100 tons - Atlas (Steiner) - (1) AC20, (1) LRM20, (1) SRM6, (4) ML

Now factions are based on my scant memory, what I could delve from Sarna and when not clear in either aspect, I went with what planet they were built on. (BTW.. the Canon database is amazing how deep and thought out it all is). BUt faction may not be a big issue right now for PGI in regards to the mechs they select. In anycase, right now, it looks as if the Awesome does fit the hole in mech lineup well

Awesome - (Marik) - (3) PPC, (1) SL
(I think I have been quite open about my love and want of the Awesome so this would make me happy)

Although, that said, as much as I want it, it would be unlike any of the other mechs.. No Ammo and heavy on PPCs. Something, if you note above, we have yet to be see in any MWO Mech design. So, I have a feeling PPCs will be an after launch implementation, and we may not see the Awesome till then. Also if Ammo has to be purchased, we may never see the Awesome as it wouldn't "Cost" anything to reload.

So given that consideration... What we know is these Mechs are the 10 in the MWT launch:

These are also in MWO:
Atlas
Catapault
Dragon
Hunchback
Jenner

So far these are not -

Light - 30 ton - Spider - ( Marik ) - (2) ML
Medium - 50 tons - Trebuchet - ( Marik ) - (2) LRM15, (3) ML
Heavy - 70 ton - Grasshopper - ( Davion ) - (1) LRM 5, (1) LL, (4) ML
Heavy - 75 ton - Orion - ( Kurita ) - (1) AC10, (1) LRM15, (1) SRM4, (2) ML
Assualt - 80 ton - Awesome - ( Marik ) - (3) PPC, (1) SL

Assualt - 85 ton- Stalker - ( Liao / Marik ) - (2) LRM10, (2) LL, (4) ML, (2) SRM6

So my guess.. although I would LOVE to see the Awesome as Mech #8.. logic tells me that its probably going to be the Stalker. Because realistically the Stalker fits this criteria : Built Pre-3049 - Assault - Possibly between 80-90 tons - Marik or Liao (Possibly Kurita although that may not matter ) - Multiple weapons, but something with Ammo and no PPCs..

I do understand that MW:T and MW:O are separate games by separate companies.. in the long list of Mechs available to use in these games.. Even though MW:O has 2 additional not in MW:T. They have already shown they seem to be balancing their games around the same mechs for the most part. It stands to reason they maybe using the same mechs to keep the games familiar to IGPs players.

Also if you look at the list.. The remaining Mechs NOT in MW:O that are in MW:T fit fairly well.. as far as balancing and weapon layout. (With exception of the Awesome.. :( )

Chuckie, I wouldn't really associate Atlas, Hunchback and Catapult too heavily to any particular faction, especially not the first two. Though since they have revealed two 'mechs that are basically Kurita only, it's pretty safe to say we won't see another Kurita special next.

It'll be a an Assault. Since we've only got one Assault so far.

my votes are as follows:

Hatamoto-Chi
Victor
Highlander
Battlemaster
Awsome
Banshee
Charger
LongBow
Zeus

Gotta remember... 3048... what Mechs were around at that time?

Its up 3049. Click my sig to see whats available at that time.
Made using the Master Unit List Search

Battlemaster and Longow might not see inclusion due to them being unseen.

Kurita Mech

If they don't do the Awesome due to PPCs, can't see them doing this one.

As I said, my associations are based on what Sarna stated either in the description or where they were built.. once I dug into a little more I see what you mean..

Atlas : Built on Al Na'ir (Marik), Hespeurus II (Steiner), Quentin (Kurita), and Robinson (Davion), seems only the Cappelans didnt build or control a planet that built Atlas'

Hunchback: Built on Kalidasa (FWL - Marik) and Coventry (FedCom/Lyran - Davion/Stiener) - So I guess it could be either..

Catapult : To quote Sarna "The Catapult is heavily used by the Capellan Confederation, although it is found in other Great House armies in smaller numbers." But now see it was built in Al Na'ir (Marik) along side the Atlas and Corey a planet run by the Cappellans and the FedSun.. Funny that it is a fav of Liao, yet they never built it..

Sarna is also up to date to what, 3075 for production entries?

Regarding the Catapult i want to say the main factory for it was on Capella before it was destroyed in the Succession wars.

Capellans did hold Corey until 4th Succession War. Original TRO3025 also notes that most of IS' Catapult stock ended up with Liao when Star League fell.

In first half of 31st century inheritance of old Star League stocks is actually a very good reason for possession of large numbers of particular 'mechs. Many 'mehcs aren't built at all anymore, not even the common types. Sarna may list factories, but those might have lost the capacity to build those particular types couple of hundread years ago. Some might be factories that started (re)producing them during '50s or later.

To give an other example, the assassin is a common mech later on, but during 3049 its actually kinda rare, even though all the houses probably have a few. It hasn't been built for a long time and the few surviving are falling into disrepair. Its not until after 3050 that houses start building it again, and assassin becomes more common.

Chuckie could be right on the Stalker, alternatively by the same sort of reasoning v weapons - the Victor or Zeus.

I would love to think that #8 would be a Battlemaster or a Warhammer (Let the Unseen be Seen again!). However, it's more likely going to be a lower weight assault class like the Victor, Zeus, Awesome or Stalker. Personally, the Stalker would be my choice. Slow and steady, but hard hitting at all ranges.

actually, there is one class of mechs not currently represented.... Command Mechs, and since the Battlemaster is a unseen, that leaves the Cyclops as the assault class command mech.
