How 'bout we don't color-code them at all? Because really, for those of us who are color-blind (or, as I like to call it, not as color reliant), it's irritating when games assume that everyone can easily tell the difference between red and green, or blue and purple.

If you HAVE to have colors, don't break it up by weapon 'size' - that should be visibly evident by the beams. Assuming red = lasers, yellow = pulses, white = A/C tracers, and blue/purple = PPCs...

A small red beam = a SmLas.
A fat red beam = a LLas

Why make it anything more than that?

Dissappointed, Blue should deffs be winning, idk why everyone is voting red though...it is of teh puzzles ಠ_ಠ

Yeah I don't get it either. Either most of the voters never played MechWarrior that much and they all went with their gut feeling, that a heavy laser should be standard red... or they all were introduced to MechWarrior with MechWarrior 3, where the heavy laser was indeed red and the small one was blue (I always hated that ;) ).

I agree that it would be quite helpfull that different sizes of laser had different colors (whichever that may be).

Lets hope to see a Mech with a large laser soon. There have been enough with AC.

It's impossible to be wrong when the question is asking an opinion, not a fact.

I want to make clear I always consider colour blindness. This poll, as always, seems to be taken as gospel and that the result will determine what we do. It won't. It is for curiousities sake.

Fixed.

And cheers to you Garth! My nephew is colorblind and is a major fan of the BTU.

In the name of science 'all' lasers should be red:
the em spectrum:(Xrays)(Heat)(colours red to blue)(Ultraviolet)(radiation)
Lasers cause damage via heat and red is the closest visible light to heat so all damage causing lasers should be red. To be truly acurate small lasers should be orange; medium lasers should be red; and large lasers should be white

I only REALLY got into Mechwarrior when the third one dropped, so I always remembered the lasers the other way around. But, if I had any input in the final product I would make all lasers the same color so the difference would be circumference of the beams.

I guess since MW:O is already updating all kinds of outdated stuff from the BT universe, why not the laser colors. It's not exactly like laser fiestas ever really made much sense to begin with...

If we want to get technical, lasers should be invisible except when some sort of light scattering effect is in play, such as smoke or fog. With that being said, it would be kinda boring to get shot with an invisible weapon so I'll go with red. The PPC has already cornered the blue color market so to have both the biggest energy weapons in the game colored blue might be kind of boring.

Oh and I think all lasers should be the same color. It shouldnt be that easy to identify whats hitting you and really, a large laser is simply a much over powered small laser so I dont think they should be fundamentally different when it comes to colors.

I think purple and blue look good for pulse "- - -" lasers yet red and green for direct "____" lasers

Why not make the laser color change depending on the last letter in the name of the day you're playing on.

When 'y', like in Sunday, it would be Red.

But when not Y, like in..........er........um.

I'm picking red.
As I remember it, the common Inner Sphere Large Laser had a red-colored beam in both MW3 and MW4, and I'm most used to them looking that way, even though it may not be the most correct, according to the lore.
