Hey, when the majority of the unit was big and slow I was happy enough to throw you straight into a slugfest you couldn't win or outrun and see how you reacted. Now I'll have to shake it up a little.

I'd win the day by using superior knuckle dragging tactics and treachery.

I was actually thinking about getting on SSW and seeing if I could actually make a Marauder worthy of the name. Might be tricky with that price limit you have in place...

@Dal I was thinking about having Thom corner some Snow Raven tech in one of the access bays and 'persuade' him to tell him everything he knew about the 'Not named Clan.' He was even going to get one of the freaky deaky Greek girls on the drop ship to let him have access to delivery room photos of her kids being born, add those to the unit's bio and broad beam it to the Falcons when we make our assault. Wondering how they'd appreciate that...

Edit: Added the last paragraph.

See what you can do Thom, then PM me the results. We can certainly discuss it, you've let me away with plenty in the past. Pretty much all the starting rules are negotiable, some just take more breaking than others. Depending on what folk do, I may or may not approve any overpriced mech you come up with.

It was a homebrew design I've had for like ever. Pretty nasty. My whole thought on it was that if the Marauder was such a beloved design, why didn't the IS ever make an Omni out of it?

Ahhhh, I see. Whelp, you know the rules - justify it. Significantly. Company, factory, who designed it, how'd you get it, etc. Homebrew chassis are fine by me, but I am gonna make you work for it.

Gotcha! But I'm probably going to be kicking around ideas while waiting to see what everyone else is going to bring. Lightest I'll go is 50t and heaviest is 95, but I'm hoping to avoid the assault mechs.

I'll be bringing pretty much the same Cent as last time, with the possibility of swapping the C3 Master out for a Beagle and jump jets if we don't want to go with the C3 route again. Don't forget, with MASC on, this thing does almost 130km/h, if only in short bursts.

I'm dying to give those new PPCs a try... I haven't even used them on TT. I'm not one for tampering with the Marauder's tonnage. I'd keep it at 75t.

Truthfully I'm trying to find some middle ground between Thom's tastes and my tastes. Character Thom loves assaults and thinks that anything less than 90 tons is for wimps. RL me frowns upon anything over 55t... you kind of get that impression from my RPs...

What I want to do is find something with that 'command feel' that a commander would want, and something mobile and able to mix it up with the bad guys.

But I am happy to say that my homie is sending me a whole bunch of books so I'll very soon be able to disgust you all with designs from my blackened heart.

i never knew what year this was set in, so i just made something that would be reasonably priced.

second attempt using gear only found in 3059.

as for spark's marauder design. 6/9/6 does not feel right on a marauder (at least to me). also, it would be the M variant not J most likely(for yours), as marik is usually the one to drop PPCs on a ppc design for large lasers.

The Mad Cat III was a dumb gimmick and we all know it.
6/9/6 on a 55t medium seems legit to me. If you're taking 20 tonnes off a design, it should move faster.

Thank you! Personally I thought the MadCat 2 was kind of lame too.

Mr. Spear, any chance of us running across some Night Gyr's? I'm looking forward to seeing that laser heat sink light show.

Mad Cat II was a favourite of a friend of mine and did seem like a logical progression, though for the life of me I couldn't figure out why the heavier design was the one with JJs.
As for the Night Gyr, I did consider the raid being to steal Laser Heat Sinks. Only problem is, they were introduced ten years earlier than I'd thought in 3051. They're also explicitly phased out of use before long, so I'm not sure if it's timeline appropriate. Of course, the science caste does continue to tinker with the technology and this is a research base...
In other words, you shall see what I tell you to and all doors are currently open ^_^

Well, one way or another the reboot will be going live inside of the next two weeks. Unfortunately I can't be more specific than that, I'm in the last week before this deadline and I didn't get all the bios I needed last night. After the deadline I'll probably be drunk for a few days, but it'll go live pretty quick after that. If needed we'll push back the June 1st drop.
