All systems are not ONLINE!
THEY ARE NOMINAL! hahaha. I have grown to love my mech startup and grown acustom to "Nominal."
Please replace Online with Nominal, for nostalgia reasons. ^_^

All I know is IF they don't change it, they better make good use of that word somewhere.

And yes, let us give grace for the presence of the Hula Girl. They really do love us, don't they?

CPU Voice saying "Nominal" is available at the MWO Store for $1.99.

Until then, your lower class Computer program is merely Online.

Nominal it (should) be.

You basically get a list of subsystems and whether they are online or offline. Once that is listed, it would then list which subsystems were not operational. If they were all green, "All systems nominal." was the last thing Betty would tell you.

If a subsystem wasn't operational, you might get.

Reactor online.
Sensors online.
Weapons online.
Radar malfunctioning.
Communications malfunctioning.

Betty is supposed to keep you up to date on your system statuses as they go offline (operational, but not available), online (operational and available) or malfunctioning (not operational and not available).

Of course, malfunctioning could be anything from the system not being available at all, to it acting very wonky or being unresponsive. A malfunctioning weapons system may not fire at all, fire on its own, or be highly prone to jamming/misfires.

Thank you for the straight run-down, and I hope that all systems that are taken into effect in the game will have a voice-update on their status.
But, Nominal has a nostalgic feeling for the initial boot-up, at least.

In interviews, the Dev's stated that if one's Mech is destroyed in a battle it is possible to enter the next battle without repairing it fully. It would be great to have "Battlemech Betty" do as you've suggested in those situations.

I gotta say, I'm kinda impressed how important such a "minor" detail can be, although I have to admit that my first reaction was pretty much the same. This shouldn't really be that big of a deal, however I feel that it actually is nontheless.

Well, while part of our childhood, who says it can't be different?

DCS:

Reactor: Serving the Coordinator.
Sensors: Serving the Coordinator.
Weapons:.... SHAMEFUR DISPRAY!!!
Not all systems are nominal!

Steiner:

Reactor: Uber
Sensors: Uber
Weapons: Achtung! Error!
Not all systems are nominal!

Etc...

All systems online sounds redundant and jarring. Please make it nominal. We know all systems are online- you just told us that. Tell us there are all working as well please.

Plus it sounds better

That is a failure on the entire communities part. I mean, Mechwarriors are usually scantily clad for a reason...speaking of which, this does bring about interesting questions concerning our in game Mech pilot avatars...if this game will have them, of course.

I know it's a long shot but I always loved how a mech had a startup sequence that included a code sequence to unlock a mechs weapons systems. It would be cool to have you go through the powerup sequence get to weapons and have the mech say.

"Input access code." and have you have to either type it on or speak it before the system unlocks. It's a fluff thing but would allow a huge amount of simple fun just through the inclusion of that tiny bit a realism.

Also the Betty warnings when things go completely pear shaped "warning reactor breach, eject eject eject..." and such.

"Ammunition explosion detected..." That one might get cut off mid sentance though lol
