LOL @ Garth.

Oh man, I consider myself a rather funny guy, and as such I really don't laugh all that much to other people's jokes, but that honest to God made me laugh out loud.

Kudos man, I gotta give you a *Like* for that one. :)

The real humour is that I get paid to do it.

Most greenest and envious of jealousy, thy name is now Aegis. It's always good to see someone earn a decent day's wages for such a valuable service to the community.

I really want to buy a nice high quality HOTAS for this game, but I'm afraid that it might put me at a disadvantage. In MWLL, that is definitely the case.

I suppose I'll wait until the game is available, and I'll then make the decision to get something expensive to complement it :D Hell, I'm on the verge of building a mech cockpit in my home!

For this game, I'm all about Joysticks. Gonna use a Logitech Extreme in tandem with a Shuttle Contour Pro. The Keyboard will be minimally used, but I don't plan on using a mouse.

Agreed........looks like you've taken the battle up a notch or two...........or twenty...........ROFLMAO !!!!!!

Like I said on the poll itself, Mouse+Key.

Reason being - no matter what, players are going to have a Mouse and Keyboard. Setting up the game so that it feels awkward to play without peripherals is what I'd consider a fast-track road to failure. While I'd definitely invest in a joystick branded with the MWO logos on it (Especially if it came with some bonus 'mechs or other content), I personally prefer the feel of the Mouse linked to my Torso.

Other games that relied heavily on having joysticks, like Steel Battalion and Virtual On tend not to do terribly well when they are released due most in part not to the games being bad (In both those cases, they were fun as heck), but because the games didn't offer a very good control scheme unless you bought the expensive joysticks that went with them. Especially as an F2P, while I think that having joystick support is a great idea, letting it take precedence over the classic Mouse+Key while planning control schemes will bring MWO to an early grave.

Mouse and keyboard...don't have money for anything else. :P

Hopefully I won't have to buy a graphics card either, but I somehow doubt that since this isn't by any means a "gamers" computer. :(

MW:O branded gear would alter the results of the poll, so if we knew if that was coming, it would make the results more accurate.

:D

I plan on piloting these mechs with a hotdog in one hand (extra peppers!), and a canadian beer in the other.

Who on earth would vote for gamepad.....
mouse/Keyboard 4tw

My earth obviously.
I have arthritis (since I was 16 years old) and the gamepad
(specifically the XBOX controller type) is the easiest for me to use.

So stuff it! :P

I agree 100% - the average user won't spend a big chunk of their salary on a HOTAS setup, and shouldn't feel at a disadvantage for doing so- but I just hope I won't be at a disadvantage for going the immersive route. The problem with MWLL is that the mechs can aim very quickly, so a mouse is best. When I used a X-52 setup, I couldn't complete with the mouse users.

Funny that everyone on here pretty much has said joystick and keyboard - but facebook has blown up with mouse guys.

That's because the very vocal minority is here. The ultra hardcore is what the forums are. I keep trying to remind folks of that fact, but people want what they want.

I suspect the average player will be m/kb and have very little familiarity with battletech outside of the mechwarrior series.
