i voted for keyboard and mouse , because that is what i WILL use, it is what i have, but have been interested in joystick setups in the last couple of days....so i will probably try that if i manage to pick the best combo....would like to use the stick, throttle, and pedals..................................but then again i would prefer a cockpit of the atlas :)

Bought a new joystick just to play the old games. Might as well get the whole throttle/pedal combination.

And maybe an old VR helmet.

I'm planning on using my Saitek X45 and acquiring some pedals. Mouse/Keyboard as a backup is acceptable. Heh, if possible. Multi-monitor support, with main display view on the main screen and windows available for Cockpit MFD's on Secondary monitor would rock. Then again that may be too much to add.

I love me some joystick and keyboard personally. But that dosen't mean I don't want to be able to play with mouse and keyboard aswell. Given that my gaming machine is a laptop, and many times I'm not doing my gaming at home where all the extra devices are conveniently located, I tend to be rather flexible with my control schemes.

Personally I voted for the joystick and throttle option as I have always viewed it as a simulation and wanted to enjoy it as fully as possible as that. Even if I were to play with only a mouse and keyboard (read G13), I would want the option out there for a joystick and throttle to allow it to be as realistic as possible. Also the option of rudders to me is a must for turning control, but then I use rudders every day for turning control in my job so I'm biased a bit.

keyboard for directional is fail.. there are those who are mouse heads.. k thats fine.. BUT for a mech, using wasd for direction has one HUGE drawaback.
You have four directions. thats it.. There is no such thing as pressing W and A at the same time to move in direction Q<!0 oclock>
that means while moving laterally or rather , in an arc, you cannot maintain xhairs on target. The best you can do is spam between the two directions to achieve an approximation of the target area, which of course is fail again once you have used a hotas setup.
Its the second biggest problem with mwll, after collision terrain NoNsEnSe..
Having to use keyboard took away a whole toolkit of battlemoves I had developed in mw4.
Ive learned more linear attacks though recently in mwll to compensate , so I am looking forward to synthesizing the two now in mwo...
<thats the plan>

You've never really played any of the MMO's out there have you?

I use WASD keys to move all the time and, if you use the mouse for looking/aiming, I can press "a" and "w" and move directionally and aim/shoot at my target just fine.

It might be EASIER to do it with a joystick but it's not impossible to do it with a keyboard.

I'd just like to add that just because you do not agree with another persons choice of control interface you still do not have the right to be insulting or demeaning. I've edited a couple of posts and tagged the offenders. Let's play nice shall we?

Joystick with keyboard, plus throttle built into the joystick.
