Booting a system with the CPU immersed in Liquid Nitrogen to support a crazy overclock is nice and all. But it has exactly ZERO bearing on a vendor's suitability as a gaming machine at or near stock speeds with less...esoteric cooling measures (read, stuff that doesn't require a fortune in LN2 and massive dehumidification to prevent ruining the board after a day or two).

Note that I did not install a graphics accellerator in my computer, yet my system is able to run PS2, PS1, N64 and SNES emulators running games simultaneously while playing music in Win Media Player and with over 100 IE tabs open at the same time (one of them running CastleVille on fb at the time).
Now, my system cost me $3300 for all new parts and case including the purchase of the monitor and 3 year replacement warranty on all components and the monitor. Oh, and my suggestion is to check if you have a Micro Center near you because they'll price match newegg, Fry's Electronics, Best Buy, HH Gregg, Walmart and lots more stores. I actually got employee pricing at Micro Center on everything I bought minus the case which was $20 more than EP and the memory which was $20 lower than Micro Center's EP at the time.

If you're planning on playing MWO I do recommend getting a better Graphics card than your integrated graphics. Even if it's just one of the Radeon HD 7770 series (they just dropped in price to $139, making them a better option than the Nvidia 550ti for $10-20 less) if you plan on playing at 1080p at least. My iGPU on my laptop is just slightly slower than yours, (about 5% slower than Intel 3000 igpu) and I only get 24-28 frames per second in Crysis 2 with all settings turned to minimum, at 800x600 resolution. Given MWO is running the same game engine, I would say your best bet would be to get some kind of dedicated card.
That all aside, eh, games right now are really not affected all that much by your CPU. 9 times out of 10 your GPU will be what bottlenecks you in modern games. At least until new consoles come out, but we're 2 years away from that.
I'll be happy with a Phenom II x6 at ~4ghz when my build is all the way together.

Yeah, this machine is very powerful (it'd be great for the GIS work I'm doing in school now
I'm guessing the absolute minimum to physically run the game will be met with the newer Intel HD graphics, but we're talking playing at minimum settings at an unacceptable framerate. Vulpes has cited a card that could be considered a good minimum for a machine like that.

$300 can get you a quality video card - http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814130593
You could also wait for the new 6xx series from nvidia. The 680 is a little pricey but well worth the money. I would think the 660 (or whatever they call it) will have a good balance of performance and price for enthusiasts.
Edit: Instead of a 7770, look at a 6850/6870. Same price point with better preformance.

Actually the 7770 does quite well with CryENGINE 3 + DX11, and has dropped in price to $139.

Simply put, the 7770 performs about the same as a 6850, and overclocks better, while doing much better in tessellation heavy titles, despite the 128 bit interface.

I'd suggest looking at more than one bench marking site. The two cards are very close but the general consensus is that the 6850 has a slight advantage but the 7770 has significantly better power consumption.
Edit: My opinion is now just get whichever is cheapest

I do, I just trust Wiz's reviews most. Just my personal opinion and all.
And yeah, pretty much go for what's cheapest if there is a $20+ difference, but the 7770 currently has immature drivers and has a greater chance to be better in games in the future, and it is also more energy efficient. Plus there is more overclocking headroom. In my opinion, it is the better choice, but I tweak everything so eh.

I don't disagree with using Partpicker; I personally like it... but MY GOD this is a thread necro! This thread is just a hair shy of a year old!
It's funny to look back at posts from March, though, back when the 7770 was the "new amazing deal", and I was still running my old machine.
