Well, my first post, so hello everyone.

I am thinking that it will be pretty cool to change the window 7 startup sound to be "reactor online, sensors online, weapons online, all systems normal" from the trailer. Did anyone do it yet? If so, can anyone give me some hints?

You can. Go to your desktop, right click, select "Personalize," then at the bottom of the window that pops up, click "Sounds," then scroll down and click "Windows Logon," click "Browse," and navigate to where you saved the sound file. You'll have to get the sound yourself first. Maybe I'll do it later and post it here.

I did with MW3 sounds a long time ago. Make sure the audio clip is in .wav format & rename it Windows Startup then copy & paste it in the Media subfolder of the Windows folder in your C drive.

Now the question is, can I replace my mech startup sounds with the Windows startup sound?

Found this page:

http://wavs.unclebub...om/mechwarrior/

I'd forgotten how much I hated hearing the 'Shutting Down' wav!
Often got into situations where I could only sit there and get pummeled while I waited for my mech to start up again.

[EDIT]: Oh god I just played the critical hit wav.. :P (Keeping in mind I was a wee kid when I played this. Those sounds will be forever seared into my memory haha)

[EDIT#2]: Or rip the audio from this:

There is no end to my mental picture of this. I event want the the Windows for Workgroups 3.11 error sound to fire when a weapon is out of ammo. ROFL

I noticed the long start up quote was missing from that link. It took me a while, and you can kind of hear my mouse clicking at the start of it... if you can edit that out, it would be golden, otherwise do like I do and pretend it's the sound of your ident badge clicking into the slot!

Enjoy!

To go along with your new sound the mech will ask you to confirm that that's what you really want to do each time you fire a weapon and the first time you take a hit your system will crash. And you thought an overheat shutdown was bad...just wait for that BSOD!

Problem is the sound of it. Sounds like you recorded it off your speakers.

Anyone wants a good one I can toss it on a dropbox or something and pm a link.

That would be because I did record it off of my speakers. Not all Stieners are made of c-bills, after all. ;)
If someone has the ability to clean it up for everyone else's enjoyment, I won't object. But I don't have the programs nor the skills for it. It works well enough to make me happy, and just thought I would share it, but if you can get a better one on here, go for it! B)

UH why? All he has to do is replace the original file with one with the same name in the same format. It should work.

Hey, just get the url of this video, then go to www.video2mp3.net. You can download it as an mp3, though you will need another program [there are many to choose from] to convert it to wav. It works awesomely - my mechtop!

Thank you Lycan that is correct. I was making a jab at the Windows operating system. Apparently I didn't get a lock though because it flew right over his head.

On another note I have replaced both my windows boot up sound as well as my phones boot up sound with something a little more...nominal. Thanks for this post Chief!
