If I don't think I can run my way out of there I usually start getting as close to whoever's shooting at me anyway. I don't think it should be a button though. Most good pilots will realize what I'm doing anyway. They'll stop shooting and figure out a way to scrape me off before finishing me off.

If they aren't clever enough to realize it and finish me, I get a chunk of their armor as my final revenge.

After watching the game play video like 10 times. It came to my mind when I saw the Mechs arm blown off. In the event of losing all your weapons and your still alive with no ability to attack. I think it would be cool to have like a self destruct button. so when you have no other option you charge into the other Mech blowing yourself up and damaging the other Mech.

Do you like the idea? or do I just like blowing S**t up. :D

No. That would be comepletely freaking OP, useless, and stupid. Not to be rude, but no.

Include a self destruct but have it also detonate the players computer irl.

No offence to Sug, but you're a little bit biased I think to the topic, judging by the edge of your posts. There's no real reason why it shouldn't be included, after all, what if salvage is a big part of the game. If I'm crippled and my faction isn't going to win (Meaning the enemy get the salvage) Heck yeah I want to explode my mech, just for equipment denial. That salvaged might kill me down the line.

There are ways around it that don't involve removing it completely because a few people will abuse it. Is parking my Atlas in your face and having my reactor go critical because you shot me too much over powered or ripe for abuse? Should we ban facehugging pilots as well? Put a buffer zone of fifteen metres around mechs that no one can violate to stop face huggers?

Maybe :P All I'm saying is try not to think of greifing as the only reason we should/not have the ability to self destruct in game. There are other ways to deal with it.

Really seems like this is never going to be a relevant topic. Devs already said your pilot will never die. So it wouldnt have any affect on the pilot probably just the mech. In which case reactor overloads used to kill enemies would be broken.

People are worried about using the reactor going critical as an offensive weapon. Personnally, I don't think it's that much of an issue. Core breaches are part of the canon. They happen.

"Fusion engines usually will only shut down if damaged, and they are absolutely no risk of being a fusion bomb. There have been a number of cases of fusion engines being "over revved" and exploding with devestating force, but this is more akin to a boiler explosion than a true nuclear explosion. More often a destroyed engine will be punctured by weapons fire. Because the plasma is held in a vacuum chamber a punctured reactor can suck in air where the air is superheated. Normal thermal expansion of the air causes the air to burst out in a brilliant lightshow often mistaken for a "nuclear explosion" that is only a risk for unarmored infantry close to the destroyed 'Mech."

There are ramming attacks ? :P
Anyhow I tend to shoe horn in even a medium laser to the head and move 2 med lasers to the CT for all else fails scenario.
