Everyone keeps talking about the unseen mechs like they are unplayable. You all do know they were reimaged, right? There are new versions that don't look like the old versions and are thus perfectly viable choices. My mech choices are as follows:

Assault = Battlemaster, wicked mech at medium range with the armor to get there.
Heavy = Guillotine. 70 tons of JJ fun. I like stripping out the SRM and dropping in a small LRM.
Medium = Dervish. Very nice support mech. Sort of a mini-Archer.
Light = Panther or Raven. Panther is nice for light, cheap power and Raven is nice scout.

For the IS:
Centurion (always had a place in my medium lances)
Axman
Marauder
Hollander

For the Clan:
Uller
Madcat
Masakari
(yeah I love the chicken-walkers too)

I agree with the previous poster though, the Urbanmech wins the topic - I'd go home for a psych-eval if a walking observatory attacked me!

I have to say my top three favourites are Centurion, Warhammer, and Uziel. BUT I am very partial to the MadCat series, especially the last version the Savage Wolf.

Keeping it to the MWO time frame: Hunchback in the swayback version. There's just something about blasting 8xMLs at once onto an opponent that releases my inner child.

I was always partial to the look of the Marauder, though.

I know it not in the timeline yet. But the Uziel is hand down my fav. Good fire power, speed and armor, plus JJs. As for my second fav is the Victor.

I loved the look of the Cauldron-born and the Shadow Cat but the Madcat is just the classic mech design I associate most with the Battletech universe. I really can't wait to play this game.

The Phoenix Hawk. I always loved that mech, and after spending much time piloting one on "BT3034 MUSE: The Battle For Bryant" for House Kurita back in the mid 90's it's always gonna be number one for me. Perfect mix of speed, maneuverability, punch and endurance for a recon lance commandmech.

The good, ol' Panther comes in at a close second. Reconmech hunter-killer. Not so fast, but maneuverable thanks to the jump jets and with terrifying firepower for any light mech in its sights thanks to the PPC and SRM. If the PPC doesn't kill 'em outright it at least opens up the armor for the SRMs to inflict internal damage.

When it comes to heavies I always had a thing for the Thunderbolt.

I must say that when it comes down to it, I feel most at home in an Assault class mech. My love with this class started with the Battlemaster in MW, then to the Atlas and finally with the Daishi.

Used to love stuffing the Daishi with 13 Clan ER PPC's, dropping the generator down to the lowest running speed and throwing on as many Clan heat sinks and Clan armor as I could without exceeding the chassis' max weight. HOLY CRAP WAS IT FUN SNIPING IN THAT!!!

Of course, I'd normally have my team draw the enemy in with a few LRM blasts from max range, then when the enemy came within 1.1km I'd open up with an alpha strike right on their cockpit! BAM!

I can't say I have a favorite. Too many good mechs. The one thing most of them have in common is they can have a gauss weapon mounted on them.

Y'all have seen it and feared it for its massive shoulder heavy laser cannon. THE PROMETHEUS!!
Its got to be my number one favorite with my second being the Madcat MkI and the third being the BlackHawk.

I'm a big fan of the Pitbull and the Uziel. The uziel is a well rounded medium mech, and the pitbull just has a great look and feel for me. Though, the Pitbull is non-canon.

Anything dating back to the Age of War/Reunification War, but especially designs that went extinct before the fall of the Star League. What can I say? I'm a sucker for RetroTech.

However, as a diehard Taurian patriot my favorite designs out of all of those are naturally the Toro and the Talos:

Probably the Catpult (YAY!) or the Zeus. I never liked Clan stuff, but I think that's because me and my brother started playing before the Clans existed.
