I like light mechs because they are fast and can get into and out of the action quickly. Some can even pack some firepower like the Puma (my personal favorite).
I also like heavy mechs because they can pack some serious firepower while still being mobile enough to make use of it.
I choose offense and support because I like to be in the action, not watching from the sidelines or waiting for someone to find me.

Really haven't chosen a role yet. I like to move around the outskirts of the main fight and pick the enemy apart, but if i see a major opening ill charge in and hammer the enemy or help hold the line. I'd probably prefer an all around mech to match my play style.

Most certainly offensive. I always enjoyed being in the middle of a big battle slamming other mechs into the ground. Very satisfying to watch them explode.

I know that I may get some grief over this... I have played the computer games, and CBT, But i was most into the Mechwarrior Clicky Tech game.
I was a strong Highlander then Republic of the Sphere, and i do enjoy that era of MW, I know alot of players expecially older hard core fans dont like that age of MW... however, My favorite thing was to fight in wooded terrain and the Highlanders had some strong defense, teamed with the long range of the Republic, That is how i fight.
There was a game about big chrome mechs for the 360, and i played support/defense roles, its just apart of me, in the CBT game i just love sitting back in the Viking.... Raining HAIL DOWN upon my enemy, just give me a good spotter!

For me my play style in mechs is usually in the second line. I like to be right behind my brawlers throwing long range fire, helping my brawlers. That said i also am more then willing to push forward and plug a whole or if i see a weakness push forward and open a hole.

I'm seeing some blend of Offense and Defense (two sides of the same coin, really), and I'm open to picking up either close or long range fire support, too.

I didn't pick Brawling, for all that I like a lot of 'mechs that can mix it up in close (Quickdraw, Enforcer, etc.), I'm not interested in relying on charging in. If I can get close to make the most of an agile 'mech or get some DFA action, super, but I'm not that interested in just barging in and standing on the trigger or running around with an ax.

Primary: Brawler. I like big guns and I cannot lie.

Secondary: Support. Yes. I will help out after I come limping back.

Scout might also be fun, but I dont think many light 'mechs have gauss rifles or X ACs.

( I may have gotten that last weapon wrong. Although I know for sure all three letters are present in some order.)

I'm going for the recon/scout role.

Why? Because I like being considered the eyes and ears of my lance/company/battalion. When it comes to battlefield intelligence, a scout/recon pilot is the bleeding edge of the sword.

Not that I plan on doing much bleeding, mind you.....

I'd probably be an offensive type at med-short range in a medium or heavy 'Mech.

Unless I can get my hands on a HGN-732 Highlander, then I'd be a mix of offense/defence/support at long range.

:)

Would Artemis/Target designation fall under support or scout?

Holding off on voting for now. But Probably a heavy acting as second line to reinforce where needed.

I want to roll in a Centurion and shoot stuff. What kind of stuff I shoot isn't so important, and being at the front or back doesn't either as long as I get to unload a couple tons of ammo into someone. I can defend my ally's Catapult and offend the Atlas on the opposing team.

I prefer to mix it up as an OFF/DEF but it we lack scouts I'll gladly take up that role.

After long thought, I have decided on commander/support roles if possible. Command because I bring involved in mission planning and team co-ordination which is where a mission's success is based. Support because I love LRMs ( when properly backed by MLs).
