I will be using this section for relaunching the Education Center.

whats needed.
Update of old threads.
Signing up thread - with coordination this time
Training Guide - for those who want to help out and make things easier on them

Aim would still be around a neutral place for new people and vets to hang out.

Something I mentioned in another thread. Save up to the total cost of the 'mech plus addtional 50%-100%. For example, the above Jenner-D is listed 3.1 million. Earn that amount of money plus an additional 1.55 million. This would allow you to purchase it (of course!) then gives you a cushion for future repairs/rearm. Alternately, the extra cash could allow you to do some instant customization. Instead of going through two or three costly battles to earn the cash for upgrading the unit.

well you only need like 150-200k on top of the jenner price to make it up.
repair and rearm will not be that high. 25k'ish would be a good average cost.

Well I got the founders mechs so I did your jenner setup with the 2x streaks and the 4 small lasers and went w/ 2 tons ammo instead of 1 and I just had the best game I ever played with 2 kills and around 250 damage. I have had higher damage output games but I took out two other jenners during a 2v1 fight. Thanks for the tips, now I need some more tips on what to do for the other mechs, whether it is founders or bought mediums/heavys. Thanks again.

well shift, if you don't mind trying out the centurion fit.
so far it has been the easiest for me to use, especially when it comes to not upgrading the engine.
I be very interested in your thoughts about it.

Sure. I'll make the purchase tomorrow and set it up and I'll let you know what I think.

I have more damage in the torso area from when you could fit on 350xl egnines.
Running around for most of the match with arms blown off.
I will see if it works better with 4x ML with 2 more heat sinks or even small lasers on the arms for an extra heat sink.
I'm still going for the centurion AL as one of the better choices for close combat.
Will try a centurion A as an lrm boat, triggerhippy gave me the idea

Sorry for the delay, due to school I haven't had the chance to purchase it yet but I just learnt that the MC we have will be refunded to us so I bought a new atlas, awesome, dragon, two cats, and was debating between a new hunchie and then I remembered this thread so I bought the centurion. I'll let you know what I think about it in the next few days if I can find time to play.

thanks man
so far its seems like a really good fit, found the 2xML 2xMP better then the 4xML.
you know MC should only be getting reset once more for open beta just FYI.

Yea I assumed that. The way I look at it, open beta is launch so there is no reason to do a reset once that happens. I am experimenting now to plan out a strategy of what to spend it on once the final reset is made.

If you have low lag and understand how to survive in a fast, lightly armored mech, get a raven or jenner. Otherwise, get a centurion or hunchback. I personally would prefer the hunckback, but lots of people swear by the centurion. For a newbie, HBK-4SP is probably the best hunchback. You can outfit it like a -4J if you want range firepower, or use it as a short range brawler. The 4J is not as good because of the laser hardpoints in the torso. Having lasers in arms lets you aim your lasers easier (because you don't have to worry about waiting for your torso and arm reticules to converge before firing lasers).

I concur with the choice of the Jenner-D.

It's also good later on too. You can refit it with a 280xl engine, 4 medium pulse lasers and 2 streak SRMs once you're overflowing with c-bills.

It's definitely a good keeper and first money making mech.

On the subject of "how to guides" on youtube - I just stuck one up for the Cat A1

Take it with a pinch of salt, I was running on bit of an ego trip when I made it. I need to improve the quality of the video capture for the next ones do.

Cyber if you feel you want to move this to a more appropriate guide page instead of the "My first mech" thread that's cool man. I'm going to be doing a whole range of "look how good I am vids" aka "training vids" so If you wanna build a page for community vids I'll drop the links in there as and when I do the next ones.

I still stand by that LRM boat - got a hell of a punch for a med mech 1xLRM 15 and 2x LRM 5's + a couple of Med lasers (slow engine and I think I can only get around 700 -800 LRM's in there but still, it's a lot of support from a little Mech.

If memory serves I was running a tiny XL engine in it so try an LRM 10 with a standard engine - should still work out nicely

The thing with commentary it seems best with captions added in youtube.
Its very nice and neat.
was really impressed with it, krivvan got a god video of it somewere.
Its a nice video, you showing how easy it is to assault like that with the boat.
No your right its not the best place for it.
In theory....http://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/41750-mwos-mech-guides/
would be a better spot to link a thread that has this video on it.

edit: nice steal kill at the end lolz.
the quality is ****, I know you have a decent machine, have no idea why it looks so bad.
I'l talk(type) to you on TS about it

Will be updating this with jenner-D video.
Still have to add centurion-A fit too.
leaving out the hunchback sucks tbh but I just can't do the same thing with the centurion in a hunchy at 64kph :(

BTW, is there a limit to how long I can use the 4 Trial mechs? Thus far, I'm having fun with the Dragon so I thought me buying my own would be a distant problem for the future.

Though, I am planning on saving up for a Hunchback/Centurion when I get the money for my first mech.
