Firepower is great, but glass jaws are not. You have to hit the other guy to make firepower count.
Armor is always there for you. It is like a warm blanket. It requires no dice rolls, and it only goes away as the other guy is able to hit you. The longer you can stay operational in the field, the longer you can use the firepower you have to hurt the other guy.

Did you damage/ton math wrong...
Also, I'm highly amused by the fact that not only does the 25-ton Solitaire do more damage per ton than any of these (1.7), it actually does more damage PER SALVO than any of these (42) - including the 75-ton Heavy 'Mech. Yes, I know, Clan tech and all that - but it's still funny

Cronus: 31 Dmg divided by 55 tons = .56 DPT
Guilotine: 40 Dmg divided by 70 tons = .57 DPT
Wolfhound: 23 Dmg divided by 35 tons = .657 DPT
Flashman: 36 Dmg divided by 75 tons = .48 DPT, not to mention it's bare average speed for the weight class.

Thanks for adjusting scores. Atlhough I personally don't care for a damage per mech ton, it favors lighter chassis, which are already benefiting from higher speeds, but not penalized for lighter armor. And while the flashman has an average speed for its weight anything faster is severly under gunned and under armored so I feel it is balanced.
balanced, is a tricky word. balanced against what measure? other mechs, other technologies, it own components (weapons tonage : engine tonage : armor tonage).
I am begining to think this poll turned into a list of mechs we will never see because they are the total package. Like the old adage "fast, cheap, or good, pick one".

Firepower, armor, speed. Those are all distractions. So long as I leave a good looking carcass, I don't care about performance.

Armor and Weapons would tie.

The other properties I'd rank Armor, Speed, Looks, Firepower.
