Anyone else learnt to stay dry in the middle of a thunderstorm by dodging all the raindrops yet?

]I thought that was Marisa in your sig. I've been working on The Embodiment of Scarlet Devil for awhile but my reflexes aren't quite up to par yet... One day.

To see a better representation at the nuttiness of Touhou's reflex requirements...

This sounds like one of those games you find in the little arcade/casino shops that litter the Tokyo streets.

There has got to be a lot of practice in finding the right pattern for some of these. On top of getting the movements correct.

This reminds me of an arcade game in the late 1990's called "Radiant Silvergun"

Basically a top down shooter where instead of controlling an aircraft, you control a flying Japanese girl.

And instead of of shooting down other aircraft, you shoot down other Japanese girls.

Where the bosses use some crazy attacks known as spellcards that are known to fill the screen with more bullets than empty space, which have really nice geometric designs.

And with nice music in the background...

Which is completely composed, written, drawn and programmed by a single person.

The difficulty of the game is so high that most people are unable to complete Easy mode, and only a few crazy people in the whole world can complete the Extra stages, most of whom tend to be Japanese. After playing enough of this, every other game looks easy.

I'm having trouble completing the campaigns on normal for any except Touhou 8 Imperishable Night.

Embodiment of Scarlet Devil is almost as fun as Beat Hazard, to me, at least; I generally prefer to listen to some playlists of my own in a game, so, yeah, even though Touhou is still a lot easier on the eyes, and I play it, occasionally, I'm not really crazy about it.
Still, back when I played it, I had no idea it was part of a franchise - now I want to try out the lastest, Ten Desires.

In other words, the game can be described simply as " a concentration game based on follow the pattern and don't touch anything"

It'll sadly link you back to YouTube due to embedding being disabled apparently, but it's totally awesome.

Originally, a bullet hell/bullet curtain shoot-em-up by a one-man studio, where you take control of a shrine maiden charged with keeping the peace against various (usually silly) disturbances. Touhou has such a following in Japan (and increasingly in the west) that it has many spinoff games made by fans in many genres, fan music, fan comics, a convention of its own, and an absolutely appalling variety of ***********.
