Hello!

I was looking into a project regarding house Davion, but apparently I'm being fail.

What I'm really trying to look into is art regarding Davion/Federated Suns -- and not the Mechs, but the pilots, the people. My love of lore typically comes from what's driving the 55 ton machines of war.

What are some good Davion-themed reads, or perhaps where can I look at to see perhaps some art?

all stackpole novels are Davion Themed- he is a fanboy of them. as for just normal pilots of Fed suns and Fedcom, I am not sure if there is that much. a lot of the Fedcom stuff just follows Victor or Kai.

Stackpole also wrote some TERRIBLE Clan Wolf material. The fights are ok, but Interpersonal scenes are PAINFUL to read through.

Maybe check BattleTechnology or any of the old compilation works?

Stackpole... every other writer simply had to fix the mess after him and make the universe more intersing than a simple Davion = good, rest = uncivilised, stupid, ignorant, analphabetic, dirty, etc. bunch of animals.

There are worse things than stackpole books.
"Cough"commanchos cabaleros"Cough"

So the general gist is to avoid Stackpole? >.>

I want Davion Lore, but not too rose-spectacle'd.

outside the source books, I really don't think there is a non-ultra Davion Fanboy novel. all of them talk about how the nobles of Davion are the greatest people ever...

If you want lore and art, the original House Davion/FedSuns sourcebook is available for download (as a PDF) through Sarna.net (the download URL is toward the bottom of the linked Sarna.net page).

Basically whay dal10 has said. Most of the novels are, unfortunately, written in such a way as to portray the Davions as the "good guys" and pretty much everyone else (particularly the Kuritas and Liaos) as either barbarians or evil tyrants.
A lot of the actual fluff from BattleTech source material is good and unbiased but you will not likely find any novels that do not favor one faction or another, since they are all usually written form the POV of one or a few characters from a single faction.

Oyster, I think this is the first time we have ever agreed on anything... I usually prefer to call the davies the bullies of the Inner Sphere however.

I think so lol I hope i do not come off as too much of a douche when we argue? I can totally see the Davions as the "world police" of the IS, always sticking their noses in where they do not belong.

Love and peace, and lots of lead!

We're all loving the same fictional universe. Picking on each others factions is just part of the fun! ;)

We're a Donegal unit, which commonly aren't as heavy as the other Brigades, but well... I could say I'd love to bury you in Assaults, but that fun is reserved for the snakeheads.

I'm inclined to see how you fare against the Davies... maybe you could teach em a lesson or two. ^^

house Liao in games past usually more than holds its own against the davies. So many people join davion that good davions are less than 1% of the player base, vs liao where a massive chunk of the playerbase is good. They got quantity, we got quality. We may or may not win. but I guarantee you, They will know they were in one hell of a fight.

Yes.

Good books about Federated Suns would be the already mentioned sourcebbok and Handbook: House Davion.
As for novels centered around a single man... I can't help you.
