You might want to check out the Devastator - similar look/armament (minus lava gun ;)

But honestly, the visualisation of the design on sarna.net bears a strong resemblance to the Atlas of MWT, doesn't it?

Anyways, another 'Mech from a video game... really? Not even is it 20 years down the road and fields ridiculous weapons, but it is a MA design... come on!

That was my first thought. But it doesn't have the LRMs... but... PPCs are LRMs. And 4 medium lasers are basically a lava gun.
I think most importantly it looks big, broad, humanoid, and spooky.

Best bet there.

HUZZAH!

I only see what I like to see, and I didn't see this post. Saw the first one though.

the crab is star league. whether or not you'd find it in the house militaries is another question.

Crab was originally a ComGuards exclusive, but ComStar provided it to DC after 4th Succession War so that Combine could become the firey sword of justice that destroys the great evil of FedCom. It's fair to assume that it's very, very rare war prize 'mech in FedCom and nonexistant in FWL and CC.

I think the Ragnarok should be put on the priority list right under the giant metal swamp spider robot and Atlas that has gained super powers from sticking data cores in it's head.

Plus, when I play Mech4 or the TT, I don't immediately think "well I like this 'Mech but it's unlikely I'd have it, so I just won't use it."

interestingly enough, the shields that I remember everyone complaining about when mechassault came out are in the battletech rules, they're just insanely expensive and only protect you from ppc fire.

The Blue Shield are "shields" of a different degree. They merely reduce PPC damage, not a blatant "force field" type that the MechInsult series had.

It just looks like a superbuff Summoner to me.

Also, expanding on what Garth said, there are about (Note this is not an incredibly accurate figure, I *know* some of the chassis were double-counted) 280 IS, and 140 Clan chassis (furthermore, I obviouslyI didn't sort which are available at 3049). That's a LOT of canon chassis to add before they start weighing whether or not they want to **** off the non-trivial number of die-hard CBT fans by including pseudo-canon designs like the Ragnarok.

Oh Pshaw. They just wanted SOMEONE to be able to stand up to the FedCom so it didn't take ove rthe Inner Sphere and then overwhelm the ComGuard. =P You're no "fiery sword of justice", you're meat shields. =P

The important difference between the Blue Shield and MechAssault's shields is that the former is actually possible under real physics and the latter is total nonsense. The BattleTech universe usually completely does away with any form of handwavium technology (except FTL travel and communications, of course) like energy shields, but MechAssault completely tossed that out in favour of anything that sounded cool.

I like the way you think :)

Oh and as to the Ragnarok, if it makes it in, then pretty sure I will be out. Seriously, less lore = less interest.

We've got hundreds of 'Mechs we can add - even if the Ragnarok is not added, surely there is a similar 'Mech you could use? I love the Nova, but I realise it's clan-only so I suffer verily and use similar(ish) Inner Sphere 'Mechs, like the Crab :)

I thought there was a general consesus amongst the Mechwarrior Community that the MechAssault series is to be completely ignored.

It never happend.

To say that it did is similar to saying you were concieved in a test tube from the DNA of a male goat and a male octopus. Not a nice picture is it?

So... Ragnarok? What Ragnarok?

Just close your eyes. Lavagun = Plasma Rifle. Shield Generator = Guardian ECM. There, now breathe in and out. Do you still despise the game as much as I do. I doubt that highly. It still sucks.

Relax he is just covering his tracks!!! All hail the Crab!

Oh heck I never know what to believe anymore when it comes to mech hints.

If I see someone with a Ragnarok ever, I will start a crusade to hunt down every one of their pilots relentlessly until they eat PPC, die, and reincarnate themselves with a better mech. It looked decent, but if looks is all we are judging on and your experience is grounded in the very limited options of mechassault, then undoubtedly when you start seeing real mechs you will fall in love with superior designs and forget about that Ragna-thingy
