As the title says, is there any chance the Mad Cat Mk II would make it into the game in a few years, despite them not being built in canon until 3066, 17 years from now? I mean, no offence, but I doubt the game will last 17 years, no matter how amazing it will be, no game has, not even WoW (it's only gone 8 so far).

I mean, there's quite a few Mech's that would be nice to see that just don't get produced in the canon until way later, are you actually going to make people wait until the game isn't relevant anymore to allow them to play those Mechs?

The Mad Cat MK II is my favourite Mech, next to the Blood Asp and Raven (3L Variant :P), and I'm starting to wonder if I'll get to see any of them now >.<

EDIT: Even just waiting 3-4 years for the Clan Invasion gets to happen (which I 100% want to play), and then skipping ahead to 3060 so I can use a Blood Asp would be awesome. I'm not demanding this happen, I am just wondering if it will. I will play regardless! I love me some Blood Asp though >.<

I'm sure they wouldn't mind speeding up some parts of the timeline to get to those more important years faster.

My advice would be that if it's your favorite I wouldn't hold out for it in a game set in the 4th Succession war/Clan invasion. Chances are good that if we got the 3015 game you wouldn't have seen it in that either (aside from a mod). How religiously they follow the timeline though I don't know. I'm certainly not expecting any Thunderfox's in this particular game anyway.

After 3051 (2013?) I'd imagine they'd speed up the timeline significantly. Once the Clan Tech is all under control they can speed up the timeline to get all the "good stuff" later one. Plus, IS Omni's start to show up at 3056, first with the Avatar and Sunder a few years later. Not to mention all the weapons like X-pulse, HvAC's Hyper Assualt Gauss... etc..

Eh, I hope you're right man, Blood Asp is another favourite of mine and that guy doesn't come out til 3059 either. And Uziel is 3067, ****. And Hollander in 3055. All of my favourite mechs, now that I think about it, are from 3055 and onwards really...

At least we might have a chance at seeing a Shadow Cat once the Clans invade, and the Timber Wolf and Vulture as well. Catapult I'm assuming is already in at some point in the near future...

I wouldn't count it out. Just as I wouldn't count the game lasting longer than 11 years out.

(offtopic) As for no game lasting that long... Well well, aren't you in for a surprise, as EverQuest has not too long ago celebrated its 13th anniversery!

I haven't read the details on whether players will modify events or not. Personally I would have loved to play in a totally player-regulated Inner Sphere. That is: we have planets with resources that start controlled by a faction and during the game all of them can change their color being conquered. But I doubt this would happen because Battletech has clear timeline and for decades the future history has already been written.

what is the point of following an established timeline, when the player base is aware of the future of said timeline. The game is not pay to play so it's not like they are going to charge for that content, where is the benefit of making clanner mech fanboys(like me) wait forever and a day ??

Eh, there's an Everquest II, so I wouldn't say it really counts, that and it stopped being relevant a while ago :P

But yeah, we'll have to see I guess.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a timeline jump in a few years but I also wouldn't be upset if they didn't. I got started with the MW series in the early 90's and clan tech, so I completely understand the urge to jump there. I am an avid fan of the Nova and the MKII is an amazing mech. That said, I actually wish they had started all the way back in 3025. I have been playing MegaMek set back in 3025 and much to my surprise I really love the old tech now and don't miss the clan upgrades. There is something different and fun about the 'old' IS tech that I think too many of us MW series guys missed out on. Don't sell the IS tech short, you may just fall in love with something you never thought you would (for me, the grasshopper).

A year in MWO time will be like a year in a dogs life. So one year IRL equal 7 years of MWO time line. So really it's not that far away till the Madcat Mk II comes, or the Mad Dog or the Vulture. Just think like a dog. Bowwowowowowowow.

In fact so near it was mentioned in being used in a recent play test. Though not entirely tuned and ready but there. I would guess if they put up concept art for it that it will exist by launch. Of course it might not.

I would consider it relevant if it still exists, whether you have any interest in it or not really. Considering this F2P model there is indeed the possibility that this game could go on that long or longer with engine upgrades etc depending on how well the model lasts (it's semi-new after all). Though you have this, Tactics, and at least that iOS game to get a Madcat MkII out of...not knowing much of the others it is plausible

I would have been perfectly happy with 3015, Succession wars all the way! Though the clan mechs being as iconic as they are I guess they'd have to start somewhere they could plausibly reach them at least. Still I sort of wish they gave it a little longer. I want to pound other successor states for awhile.

Nope, Vulture, Thor and MadCat.

Inner Sphere'ers outnumber Clanners, so what we says is right.

Besides, think of it like Russian Fighters being called Flanker or Flounders. Those aren't the Russian names, and Inner Sphere inhabitaqnts aren't going to call them by Clan names (plus Clan Names are often goofier) Old school Btech players learned the IS names first in any case...

Ah thank you for being the one who mentioned UO, was wondering if I had to be the one to do it :P
I even ran my own UO shard for over 8 years some years ago..Good times. Heck I even sometimes feel like playing UO again - Lets face it isometric gaming never gets old! :D

Also, I'm with the guy who said he wanted a Vulture..or Mad Dog, I'm good with either ..Vulture is my favorite mech after all ^_^

I do hope they manage to incorporate IS Omni's. I am by no means a BTech guru, but I do love the game, the universe, and the lore. I personally hate the Mad Cat Mk II, but I am a pretty big fan of the Avatar, Sunder, and pretty much all of the IS heavy/assaults that I was introduced too in MW4 Mercs.

As Colorfinger said...there is something special about the feel of old school IS 'mechs. MPBT 3025 did a decent job of exhibiting that, and I can't wait to see this game in action.

I think the "I want my clan mech, or I am taking my ball and going home" routine has been played enough as it is lately..

The timeline is 3049 pre invasion. Nothing is going to change that. There is no point in complaining about something that will not change. You have to learn to accept that and move on. :)
