The timeline is 3049 pre invasion. Nothing is going to change that. There is no point in complaining about something that will not change. You have to learn to accept that and move on.
...and ultimately, there are so many post-3049 mech designs in Battletech that the developers can't possibly include them all. If people are bothered about one particular design, wait until they put up a Facebook poll and vote for it then. All the forum moaning in the world won't affect the general direction the developers want to move in.

uhhhh...I can think of a few...MMO's too...Everquest comes to mind...several others as well...
anyway...my guess is the timeline may start moving at a double rate or higher once the game releases...and if it doesn't...well, grab a stick and beat the dead horse.

StarCraft (I) had a following for 15 years. Diablo 2 has also had a(n admittedly smaller) following for 15 years.
Very well-made and well-loved games stand the test of time.

I think the "I want my clan mech, or I am taking my ball and going home" routine has been played enough as it is lately..

I'm not complaining, I just haven't been around on these forums as long as some of you and was wondering if the developers had toyed with the idea of speeding up the timeline at all. I tried the search function, but it didn't find anything, and couldn't even search for 'mad cat mk II'
Anyways, I'm not saying I wont buy the game if the MK II isn't in it, I absolutely will buy it, I was just holding out hope that I might see my favourite mech. I'm definitely looking forward to the game either way, almost moreso than Diablo III.
And to all the people mentioning Ultima Online and such, I'm talking about games still played by more than like..... 1000 people

So you are sad that the MadCat Mk II isn't available to you to ROFLstomp all those IS designs more than a decade older into the mud? I pity you... not. Ever heard of something called "balance"? Starting to doubt that reading some of this stuff here. Seriously, asking for Mechs way more advanced to be matched up against pre-3050 designs...

Eh, there's an Everquest II, so I wouldn't say it really counts, that and it stopped being relevant a while ago
But yeah, we'll have to see I guess.
Everquest 1 is still alive and still recieving exspansions. And while it has been over shadowed by WoW it still has a strong following.

Nothing to do with ROFLstomping anyone, I just think the Mad Cat MK II and the Blood Asp are the two coolest looking mechs in all of BattleTech. Well, the dual gauss load-outs are also the appealing part, I wont lie. And I have heard of balance... it's something that can easily be done to the MK II and the Blood Asp. And I'm asking simply to play with models that I enjoy playing with, the same reason people buy character skins on LoL, they just enjoy being them. If you're too much of a child to realize your opinions and your taste in things aren't the only valid ones, then I don't think I'm the one that needs to grow up, sir.

Eh, define "strong following".

If all things go according to plan (mine), every so many years they'll put out a new game with a completely new engine/upgrade/etc, keeping the timeline together, and we'll be playing mechwarrior till our graves.

the enhanced version isn't available until 3083

Sarna.net is a great resource but as far as canonical and times available the MUL trumps it. So you actually have even longer to wait, on a side note much like screwcitychris said stop beating a dead horse. It might be the first time you have asked this question but it is certainly not the first time something similar has been asked. There is a search function in the upper right it is one of the best forum search functions I have seen. Learn to love it.
Edit: even Sarna.net has the Mad Cat MKII as available in 3066... reading is hard.

Reading is pretty easy, in fact: http://www.sarna.net...i/Mad_Cat_Mk_II
"he Mad Cat Mk II was in development for fifteen months and was introduced in 3060 as a way to increase profits for Clan Diamond Shark after war with the Inner Sphere in the 3050s."
It existed starting 3060, doesn't have to be in super mass production, imo, for PGI to consider implementing it in the game. Unless Sarna.net is wrong, just make it stupid expensive so it's rare (assuming it ever gets released)
And I've used the search function and couldn't find anything on the MK II, which I already mentioned a couple times in this thread, as every word in "mad cat MK II" is too short for the search function. If some of you are going to be snarky twats, maybe you should figure your own **** out first instead of coming off like a bunch of calous, ignorant dicks

Its like Mass Effect coming to an abrupt ending, and now all Bioware can do is put out prequals, and no one will buy them.
