Noooooooooooooo :(
DMO was a game i was really looking forward to.

Hopefully it will go the Way of the original mass effect MMO. (that became ME1, the start of a good trilogy)

2 Faction MMO was a total fail anyway. Good Riddance.

On the one hand, i would have loved an MMO in a Universe i like . .
On the other hand . . i ******* hate MMO in general and would rather have only games with single player campaign and multiplayer capabilities like co-op mode or versus battles in them . .

Damn, I hope that it doesn't go all the way, as Company of Heroes might go with it... *looks at options* **** this ain't good.

ON FURTHER NOTE: It seems that THQ had this coming for quite some time, they should've read the signs that the economy was showing, and they didn't. I am completely and totally disappointed and ashamed in their actions. I am 16 and I am pretty sure I have better business skills then those dikuts. It is a real disappoint.

I'm sad to see it fall that way, but it make sense. With rise and commercial success of F2P, planned traditional MMOs are falling the way of the dinosaur.

THQ is really in trouble because of the bath they took on that kiddie tablet thing they launched recently, along with Red Faction, Homefront, etc. not living up to expectations. I would assume they are trying anything and everything they can in order to avoid delisting from NASDAQ, which means they need to get their stock over $1.00 per share. IMO they will be a part of EA or Activision/Blizzard  sooner rather than later.

I've enjoyed some THQ games in the past so I'm not going to say that this is good news.

However, to be realistic, I think this was the best course of action for the direction that the game was heading. Just because we're in the year 2012 does NOT necessarily mean everything has to go online. Single-player experiences are still golden and there's a market for it. In fact, if I read the article correctly, just because they're dropping the "Online" portion of the name doesn't mean they're totally going offline; there seems to be plans on keeping some sort of multiplayer aspect to it, basically just like with any other shooter game these days. So it's not all that bad.

I do feel sorry for those laid off, though. Times are hard indeed.

EDIT: I hope they release Devil's Third before they go down under (God-forbid)!

i think any of the series they have that are worth anything will be continued, just under a different publishing banner. they were a mid-level publisher that had too many misses to sustain. a bigger publisher would have had more room for error, THQ produced B level games on A budgets and now they are paying the price. it is unfortunate, but they took risks and lost.

When you put it that way, it makes it seem like THQ are underdogs. I hope they merge with a good company like SEGA, Ubisoft, or T2 Interactive. I don't want them getting swallowed up by giants like EA or Activision.

I am not calling them small. They are by no means small, but if you look at it, EA for 2010(year end in 2011) had sales of around $3.6 billion, while THQ had sales in the area of around $660 million. so compared to EA, they just don't compare. I would like it if they could stay away from the big boys like EA or Activision, I would just imagine that those companies would be in a better position to make a move.

IMO having them under the banner of EA or Activision is bad for the industry. It has to make it harder for companies such as Pirahna to stay independent when EA and Activision control sooooooo much of the gaming market, it makes everyone else more and more niche

I hate Games Workshop as much as I hate Wizards or HG cause they are totally greed driven companies that want their fans'organs and limbs. But I must give them credit for W40k being maybe the best sci-fi universe ever created for a game.
