Hi folks! I whipped up a 1920x1080 desktop wallpaper for those who might like to show some House Liao pride right on their screens. So, I'll just leave this here...

My wife ruined it by translating all of the Chinese for me.

Really good work!

Thanks! The lines in black are from the Art of War and are written in the old top-to-bottom, right-to-left style. They're also rather cryptic. The contemporary English translation of their meaning is supposed to be something close to this:

Quote

實而備之 If your enemy is secure at all points, be prepared for him.

強而避之 If he is in superior strength, evade him.

怒而撓之 If your opponent is temperamental, seek to irritate him.

卑而驕之 Pretend to be weak, that he may grow arrogant.

佚而勞之 If he is taking his ease, give him no rest.

親而離之 If his forces are united, separate them.

出其不意 If sovereign and subject are in accord, put division between them.

攻其不備 Attack him where he is unprepared, appear where you are not expected.

Thanks for adding the translation (I am very cautious about what I display if it is in a foreign language and I cannot read it. I.E. those cutesy tattoos that are supposed to read as peace or joy, anyone else notice how they are different from shop to shop?). It is now my background.

I hadn't even thought about that concern. For the sake of completeness, the characters in red are mean to represent the essence of Capellan society/philosophy and they translate as:

Dāo - the sword/knife
Rén - the people
- justice/integrity
Liào - House Liao

While those at the top in silver simply say "Capellan Confederation" in Chinese:

卡佩拉之 Kǎpèilā zhī - Capellan/of Capella
邦联 Bānglián - confederation

It may be worth noting that the traditional Chinese name for the real world star Capella is 五车二 Wǔ chē èr, meaning "second of the five chariots" after its place as the second in a constellation of five stars.

Very similar process with this wallpaper to those that I used in my series of EVE online logo updates and wallpapers...

Thanks Manhattan.

I met and was introduced to a lady who was the Capellan leader, "I THOUGHT" on Eve online. Dont remember her name, and I wonder if more of the EVE players will roll over here to play MWO.

Any word on that Manhattan?

There seem to be a lot of BattleTech fans among EVE players that I know, and those I've heard from are pretty excited about MWO. I know I certainly am!

Good deal.

Do you know the Lady who was leading the Capellans? or was it CapCon...I dont remember her name or the exact unit name, maybe is was just Liao, They were a nice group of people.

I was going to get involved in EVE, just couldnt bring myself to do it. OLD dog, new game, I guess it just didnt interest me enough.

Maybe We will see them here, soon.

Thanks

Long time Eve pilot here, formed, led and continues to fly with Stimulus/Rote Kapelle. Many of my bloodthirsty compatriots will be joining me in the Inner Sphere. Expect us to move fast, hitting and running and hitting some more. We are not a bunch of Assault pilots. :-)

If I grow up to be a very good medium pilot (which I hope for) will you want me to sign an autograph for you? ^_^

I would be honored to have your autograph, Adridos.

Capellan Citizens who defend the glory of Liao, deserve the gratitude due them, no matter the role in which their service to the Confederation is fulfilled.

Oh you think do you sir??

If I remember, I could hunchback those arms off your Uzi and be sitting on your head having a beer before you knew what had even happened. LOL
