Demarkus cast another look at his sensors and cracked a sad smile. He was getting high altitutue surveillance beamed to him, courtesy of the friendly dropships slowly making their way to the pirate jump point high above. He had to admit, he was handling the thought of being the last defender of Tikonov pretty well. He was doomed, he knew it, like a pilgrim in an unholy land. He quckly shoved those thoughts from mind and concentrated on the images flickering on his screen. He then wiped sweaty palms against the rough fabric of his coolant vest.
"Come's on you's b*****ds..... Just a's littles closer..." he growled as he took the controls and brought his targeting reticle over the mouth of the alley.
Movement caught his eye and his mech screeched a warning as his tageting computer tagged the new hostiles as the Warhammer and Thunderbolt. Both mech's armor gleamed in the sunlight, like they were ready to parade themselves through town like conquerers. They lazily turned to face him, as if they were expecting the cornered mech to surrender. They were wrong. DeMarkus was going to ruin that gleaming armor and pristine paintjobs.
He mashed down on the triggers and his weapons responded. The ruby beams of his lasers sythed a furrow into the pavement at the end of the alley and up into his target. Not the enemy mechs as would be expected but the near ton of autocannon ammo that he had earlier jettisoned at the end of the alley.
There was a blinding flash and the Earth shooked like it was struck by the Hammer of the Gods. The two mechs staggered and fell like a pair of drunkards with armor crumpled and in some places disintegrated. A split second later there was a low grown as the two highrised buildings collapsed in a billowing cloud of dust and raining brick, burying the two mechs under dozens of tons of debris. In the shadowy confines of his Cataphract's cockpit, Demarkus cackled like a madman.

"Mr Frankfurt?" blared over the intercomm snapping DeMarkus out of his dream and back to the here and now.
He slowly became aware of where he was and shook his head to clear it. Embarrassed he looked over at the window and saw the petite girl with the sharp features looking at him curiously. Blushing, he stood up and strolled on over to where she waited behind the bullet proofed plexiglass.
"Comfy chairs eh?" She asked in perfect Russian and cracked a feral grin.
"Yeah's... way more's comfortable dan a's command console." He stretched then stifled a yawn.
"Well we're almost done here, there's some final paperwork and the matter of your payment."
"Oh yeah's... How much again?" He crinkled up his brow while fishing out a wad of crumpled C-bills.
"That will be 21,250 C-bills. And you should recieve your delivery at 1:30 AM local time tomorrow morning."
He nodded as she spoke, still in Russian. He piled the bills out on the counter top is neat stacks of 1000. She pointed out where to sign on a small mound of papers and he took up the offered pen and began to scribble his signature on all the highlighted sections.
"Excellent. Thank you very much, ahh.. Alexandria." He eyeballed her nametag.
"No, thank you for choosing Ceres Metals." She chirped back at him.
He smiled at her then turned for the door. It was gonna be a long walk back to the mechspace. Thankfully the storm that soaked him earlier had moved on leaving a cloudless moonlit sky.
