I will stay IS. Thanks for the invite but no thanks to the clans.

Agreed. I may lose my comrades to those inbred clanners, but at least I get to attack anyone I want to instead of staying with the rules of zellbrign.. or whatever. Bring me my Catapult! Talons out!

But that will not work, I am sorry to say, but most clan players will be in clan mechs. That and how do you calculate skill into Battle Value? By rank? By kills? By wins? No by forcing a lower number of clan players into a match you even the odds without going into over kill, at worst you have a 5 vs 12 battle with the fluff intact.

I'm confused. I do not understand the first part of your post, but I can say that skill should not be calculated into a MWO BV. 5 vs 12 would be extremely difficult on the Clan Mechwarriors. Also, you run into the problems of not using mixed IS/Clan matches.

While playing a clanner would not be my first choice, I hope I am given the choice to play one I would bet that you pay to unlock them for your self. Makes sense to me my first choice of clan would be Ghost Bear followed by Nova Cat.

I just realized, if the devs do add in the clanner invasion it would actually make perfect sense for it to be PvE. Yeah, if the clan mechs were controlled by bots that would put them at a disadvantage...BUT THAT'S THE WHOLE POINT! AIs are naturally less flexible tactically just like the clans! Sure part of the reason that the clans lost is because the inner sphere were able to just zerg rush them, but most of it is because the IS had no problems using tactics that the clans would never even dream of using because they thought they were cowardly. As a result they were repeatedly caught flat footed against whatever the IS threw at them. When you think of it like that making the clan battles be against CPU mechs that have overpowered equipment makes sense from both a gameplay and fluff perspective!

Well the devs seem keen on letting anyone have the mech they want to have, and at this stage, PvP only. With the ammount of people that want to play Clan, making the Clans playable is a great idea. Its just balancing it somehow that is the problem.

I agree with you in that balance is the main problem. probably the best solution that was mention here was not to let the players get to actually use clan tech until the clan war is over, although there's a part of me that still thinks that having a PVE mode where the players have to fight ridiculously overpowered CPU controlled mechs that could kill them all easally despite the fact that they outnumber the CPU big time could be fun.

I admit the clans have some awesome mechs Can't say I'm looking forward to trying to fight them with 3025 tech. I like a challenge and if you pop them where you need to they die pretty quick.

For heavies it's a bit better, massed firepower wins. The clan mechs have a large speed advantage with the bigger ones. For me the real challenge is those light and medium clan mechs can effectivly engage and kill a size bigger than them with ease. The speed, better weapons allow them to circle their prey in such a way that 1 on 1 they win. Now take the lights. A clan light mech would probably kill an entire lance of IS scouts. That's where it gets scary. The clan scout could maul a heavy or kill it if they get 1 on 1 with a little space to manuver. In the end I can't wait to see what happens and how good or bad the match maker is.

:)

With my system, it makes sense that a Clan scout would be tasked with taking out an entire lance of IS 'Mechs, as the Clan scout is properly valued as such. Consider:

BV of Fire Moth Prime:
1,251

BV of Stinger STG-3R:
359

Now a F-Moth can tear through Stingers like a hot knife through butter, but eventually they're going to start getting hits, and it's going to hurt. The F-Moth has to tear through 4 stingers to get into the positive Honor Points range. Not easy, but not incredibly difficult, and certainly something you'd expect of a Clan pilot.

I come from looking at it on the fluff side, just like I look at 40k from the fluff side. From the fluff, one star= two lances that is the odds we should face. Drop the table top values, if I went by that I would have nothing by Imp Guard units for my melee due to them having the best melee stats out there when you do the math, get rid of Battle Values and go with the fluff. While I want the TRO's to be used, BV should be omitted. As for clan tech, it should be extremely rare salvage for the IS, Clan warriors in Clan mechs, no if's, and's, or but's. As for the IS mechs let the freebirths have them.

Ghost Bear all the way... nothing like piloting a shut down Kodiak in a nook when a Maddog walks by ;)

Unless it has a BAP then your honor-less ambush would end most likely in your death due to the start up time.

More than likely Clantech will be balanced, in certain table top scenarios (where both players are playing by the rules) and story wise it made sense to make a very powerful opponent as it heightens the tension and brings a certain element of each victory against said foe that much sweeter. However in a competitve game like this I do not see it ever being intentionally made to be over powered.

I will ask this though, how many players intend on roleplaying as a Innersphere bondsman? because that is the role i have selected in MWLL and it makes for some interesting conversations with my fellow clan-mates (most of who RP on comms) and I will probably be reprising the role again in MWO when the Clans are added.
