Also some advice for the new guys: If you are dead and spectating, watch someone who has some kills next to their name. It might be a veteran player that you can learn from in spectate mode. See what he does and copy it. There have been many matches where I have dropped solo and been the only person on my team with kills (5+). Sure, players don't often listen to directions from other players and often wander off to get blown apart by other players. Use the time in spectate to take notes of players who are good. Find someone with a chassis that you like and follow them. Do what they do.

There are lots of ways to get better than just getting blown up and running back out there to do it again. Plus, read the forums. Aside from all the posts about unfair this and nerf that, there are plenty of posts with good advice for new players.

Bumping.

My first couple of days in Closed Beta I spent in the Education Center. If you are a new player and interested in meeting people and getting involved in the community, go there. Very rarely is there a community dedicated to helping new players more than in MWO. Just checking into the teamspeak server and listening made a difference in how I viewed MWO. Thanks, Cyber for helping to get me going.

I was hoping that they would pull your thread from the Beta Forums...

[Guide] Playing with Friends, Groups, and Teams

You may want to email some of the mods to see if they can bring your old thread forward or at least give you access to it so you can copy and paste the data here. I have started a thread in the Guides section asking for some threads to brought back. You could post there to. Your MWO Scool thread is one of threads I asked to be resurrected.

Good to hear, there can be 1000 FWLM tags.
You guys would be asshats for it though

Thanks Taryys, I have to check out the thread.
Have thought about it and most of those links would be worthless.
I do need to do a revamp of MWOS, even changing the name is still to be processed.

Sounds like an excellent idea.

Should turn a lot of the "q qs" into "pew pews", assuming new players actually use it :D

I'd highly suggest taking advantage of this great community resource.

Cybermech and Pheydra Sagan have both been INCREDIBLY generous with their time and knowledge.

Cybermech currently hangs out and is in control of the Education Channel in the EU server
Pheydra Sagan is the current headmistress for the Educational Channel in the NA server.

You are both VERY much appreciated. Thanks to you both

Cheers.

It's really a good place for newer players to get the hang of the game.

Since the Education Center is short on resources having them on at the same time does not add up.
It will be arranged around PST time zone, when I got some numbers I will post them.

Any groups/corp/houses that want to run some games in the education center would be most welcomed.
Idea is for people to people able to share and learn things.
More channels can be created if needed but just hop onto any of the training channels and start a group.
If anyone want to start leading groups then the education center is a good place to start.

The point I KEEP making on the point of new players, is they do not bother to read forum or topics.
Then complain about damage of LRMs or something else.

Videos are a step in the right direction, but feel something needs to be put in the way to test them before they jump into a mech.

I suggest making a guide in another thread or at least mentioning it on the first post of this thread : what the heck is teamspeak, what it can do for you and how to use it
