I don't get why people vote for energy boats. I mean, every mech there is, is easily turned into one of those, but making energy boat into a blanced mech with decent arament is impossible.

I choose the champion from this list. With its speed and the hit-and-run tactic makes it the best from this 4 for me.

Could it be that the Excalibur won the Facebook poll because people wrongly thought it was about "history and legends"? What was the fourth mech in the poll besides Caesar und Cataphract?

Knowing the Clans are coming, why would we not vote for Starlegue tech? also, the Black knight has no squid head. And the champion looks like a sea plain with legs

And the Excalibur.. well.. its another.. ... um.. what is it? is it battle armor? No? Its a tank? no? Its not a mech is it? Sounds like an aerospace fighter.. wait it is a mech? ***? Oh all it has is a single gauss and LRM 20 : \ I see this guy being the victim of sneak attacks with only enough speed to get away from mech's its own size but will cry when that pair of Jenner find it... It might what to consider some better back up weapons...

The Black Knight in this poll probably refers to the one without SL tech, as seen in the revised TRO3025.

The peeps looking for energy boats are possibly only familiar with dumbed down Mech Labs where endosteel and ferro-fibrous armour were clicked selections, and where heatsinks didn't need to be positioned correctly into the chassis. A whole new world of hurt is on the way for boaters, I fear. "Waddayamean I can't fit all these double heatsinks into the Mech chassis? I need them to fire my ER PPCs! Well, I'll just take out the Endosteel, that will fix everyth... damn! Now it says I'm over by two tons!!?" I'm sure there are good players who will be able to figure out the Mech Lab as I expect it in game, but yeah... the boats will be much harder to design with this game, I think.

Yeah... voting in this poll would have been a lot more difficult if the Guillotine and Orion would have made their weight class polls. But coming to think about it a little more thoroughly, I would like to see the Black Knight in game... just to see all the crying, whining, and rage quitting of all the boater kiddies that can't handle the heat (literally). BUT, I will never ever change my vote from the Champion...

So I see a lot of QQ about "laser boats" and how the Black Knight is so crap because it's all lasers. Well, an excerpt from the 3050 Tech Readout book states: "...the Black Knight's heavy armor and offensive power make it the ideal command 'Mech for front-line units. At the same time, its impressive arsenal allows the 'Mech to operate effectively on its own."

That right there, is why I've ALWAYS loved this mech. I don't like ammo. It explodes when your 'Mech overheats, you run out of it at the worst times, and it ties me down. MW4 did mess up the Black Knight with the stupid load out/design/inclusion of Jump Jets (lol wut). But I believe that MWO would return this mech to its former glory and true purpose. To be a mobile self-sustaining command 'Mech capable of backing up your lance with long range fire support.

Only problem with the Black Knight is, without Endosteel it loses 2t of its precious armour. All energy weapons designs aren't bad at all... but if people really think its going to be like in MW4, they'll be more than disappointed.

Big fan of the Black Knight. Champion is ugly and lacks armor and armament. Axman is only useful if there is physical combat. Excalibur only works if you plan to always be at long range. In an urban environment it won't fair very well.

I guess the Guillotine got booted out because its Star League tech? Shame, I love the design...
