Hope that would garner some fracking attention.

This almost seems like it should go in the off topic forum, but honestly this caters to FRR members more than anything. Who ACTUALLY drinks mead other than me? And who actually home brews it? AND... who is actually willing to help keep my FRR brothers well stocked in mead?

-Gunnarr, alleged bad ***

P.S. I'm not too tech savvy, so how do you make this into one of them newfangled poll thigies?

The Skjaldborg are the finest purveyors of Mead. We even have a Mead Review thread on our forum.

:o

Want please.

I can't find any good mead around me. Last stuff I had was from Stirling Castle, and that was years ago. I'm going to have to resort to making my own.

I've been known to drink the occasionally mug of mead. Damned tasty! :)

I love mead, but none of the shops in my area carry any (a real shame). I know of a store in a town two hours away that carries mead, but obviously that's a serious drive to make just for alcohol.

I have been known to homebrew my own beer. It's a wonderful hobby assuming that you don't end up with exploding beer bottles, but the space constraints of my current apartment have made it impossible for me to brew for a while. There's nothing like making your own RPA, and making sure that it's so hoppy that none of your friends want any (assuming that you're like me and love hoppy beer).

I once tried to brew my own mead, and that...did not end well. I am convinced that there was some sort of contamination because the end result looked, smelled, and tasted a little like urine. It was a real shame, and I haven't had a chance to try it again.

That or someone played an elaborate prank on you...

I suppose it's possible...but unlikely. My roommate at the time and his girlfriend were the only two people who would have had access, and they both tasted the brew when it was finished. So the way I see it: if someone put urine in my fermenter they also tasted that urine...and that's the kind of dedication you have to admire (or not?).

Mead is a very tasty drink indeed, and I make sure to pick up a few bottles a year to share (and the local Ren Faire always has at least one mead/wine tasting weekend). I am surprised that so few members of the FRR seem to have picked up on Barenjager, though.

It's mixed with whiskey, which makes me punch my friends... so there was a petition signed and I'm no longer allowed to have any. Serious. If I have a whiskey night, friendly fire will be plentiful.

There's several whiskey-honey mixes, including one from Barenjager, but there's a pure distilled honey Liqueur as well, which is some of the tastiest distilled beverages around, and the one I was referring to. Should have fewer punching incidents associated with it to boot.
