"hang back all you want, but my atlas is gonna have a 7x zoom module and a guass rifle, your face is sniper meat!"

First, you'll have to win a LOT of battles in an unmodified Atlas to earn enough XP to unlock the Zoom modules & the Loyalty Points to unlock the Gauss Rifle. Then you'll have to hope that the head hit location is big enough to hit reliably. Then you'll have to hope that your 100-ton high-tech Atlas is in the same battle pool as a low-tech 65-ton Catapult. And while you are standing still lining up the headshot on the Catapult, his gauss/PPC sniper team-mates are doing the same to you & his Jenner sidekick is nomming on your back armour. :P

I'm just curious, where are you getting this Loyalty Point stuff for unlocking weapon components? Not saying it's wrong or a bad idea, but I haven't heard it before.

That said, these hypothetical snipers might be surprised when said Catapult is rocking them around with it's SRM spam instead. ;)

Hrm, seeing how the Catapult is a fire-support design, that would make sense... Also, equip a scout with TAG and you've got yourself a indirect fire-support mech. That's the whole point of the design.

Exactly... 7x zoom isn't going to see you through the hill you're firing over.

I would like to purpose that with convergence and mech movement, a moving Catapult will not be so easily hit. That and thew design does not feature a full bodied view port either.

If getting headshots can be reliably done in the game, things will need to change. If I wanted to play a game where 1 shot kills were par for the course, I'd be in Counterstrike.

They are also assuming the Catapult is standing still...
Although, why they think that, I have no idea. ^_^

The redesign isn't very bad on the "GIANT COCKPIT PLEASE PLACE BULLETS HERE" problem that some mechs have.

That said, I will thoroughly enjoy raining missiles down on people's heads AND ripping them apart with medium lasers when they think they're going to get in my face.

Or something like a 4 S/SRM6 Catapult for maximum brawling funsies. Yeah... yeah... Brawling Catapult... Yeah... mmmmmmmmmm

I like the way you think! :D

Not this mechwarrior! I'm like Rocky in the Catapult... deee deee dee de de deeee deee duckin and weaving!! floating like a butterfly, stinging like a muthatruckin bee, yo i be dodging gauss shots cause they ain't nothin to me!!!! Sorry, was that my outside voice?

When did Rocky ever duck and weave? I'm pretty sure all he did was move his face INTO a punch.

Clearly, Rocky must have been an experimental torso cockpit design...

I think that's just what you get for starting a shoving contest with a guy who has 50 pounds on you.

My Catapult won't be hangin' back.

She'll be boundin' with her four Medium Lasers (or Flamers) and four SRM6 (with Inferno Ammo if carrying flamers). Here's hopin' jump jets let ya really cook when you're airborne, and aren't like those silly lifters from MW4: Mercs (effective as they were). A little horizontal kick now and then in mid-air would be pretty nice, I think.

Where exactly did the developers say that the cockpit hitbox has to be the same size as the windows? Whose to say that not every mech has the same standardised cockpit hitbox size? Let's see the game first before we relegate mechs to certain roles before even piloting them.
