A DHS build with 2 LL and a AC5 or UAC5 (If you can handle the jam) will also kick backsides and usually score over 400 dmg per round.

I've been messing with another variant of this dragon build (3AC 2). Drop the XL300 and put in an XL350. This brings your speed up to a respectable 95ish kph. You have to drop 1 AC2 and some armor, but it vastly changes your role. Now your goal is to do the same kind of line harassment that Jenners and CommNdos do, but from a safe distance. You are heavier armored than a light or even a medium but still with good speed and range. By findin a good firing spot behind the enemy you force them to either turn and fight you, which exposes their back to your main force, or to leave their back exposed to you. AC2s can be hard to fire on the move so this is like the old school cavalry where you use your speed to position and dismount so that you can fire into them and as soon as they start turning back around you move off and find a new spot. It is highly distracting and when executed correctly it is very damaging. They also work well for disrupting LRM boats and gauss cats. The real trick is that you aren't going for kills, just trying to disrupt them. In a sustained firefight you won't do well. This works better in an organized team where your own Jenners can support you but can work in single player as well.

Frist off, the Dragon chassis is one of my favorites, up there with the thunderbolt and the Shadow Hawk. I just wanted to share my build for the Dragon-5N(C) reflecting the new Quirks came out in the latest December 1, 2015 patch. for reference, It received a buff to UAC 5 cooldown (from 12.5% to 15%) and a de-buff to global ballistic cooldown (12.5% to 10%).

The dakka on this is amazing, the AC2's Keep up pace with the the UAC 5 leading to great ROF while still having 2 medium laser backup if you really need it (personally I forget i have it when the AC's go off, but its a security blanket when **** hits the fan)

Hoping to see more Dragons out there! suggestions are welcome and greatly appreciated Posted Image

Try a combination of two LL in one arm and AC2/uAC5 in the other. On chainfire they cycle like a dual Bofors 40mm antiaircraft gun. I've seen Dire Wolves back up from all the annoying dakka in their faces. And if you only use one AC2 instead of two you can bring MOAR LAZORZ.

2xAC5 + 2LL + XL250 engine.
Not too bad at midrange, quite agile and good heat management.

I've bought 4 mechs and there is only one purchase I deeply regret, it's the Dragon 5N. Like a nuub I just looked that it had 3 ballistic slots and thought I could do some cool stuff with multiple AC's.

Well, problem #1 was that ALL the ballistic points are in the right arm. Alright I tried to make it work and managed to strip everything and put in 3 Ac2's on him. Problem #2 the heat from the AC's being in the same arm was so huge I heated up literally after few seconds. I also had to sacrifice a lot of armor to be able to fit in 3 AC2's making my left side pretty much a one shot for anyone who went for it.

The only 3 ballistic weps I can mount without being total paper is 3 machine guns and I tried that too, they seem to tickle people. I have no idea where to take this mech, any ideas?

"This is my Dragon 5N, there are many like it, but this one is special, fore she is mine."

This is the DRG-5N that I run, and it is my go-to Dragon. I generally use it as a fast heavy escort for something big and beefy like a King Crab or Atlas. Due to the large engine, I can chase the lights, go off and scout for the big boys, and zip back in a timely manner, this large engine also improves my twisting speed.

My suggestion would be to hold on to the 'mechs until they're requirked to make them useful.

This is what I've run since closed beta. Its effective if you use it to skirmish on the flanks, keep enemies at the 400some meter range.
