Minifig scale would be awesome. But I'd rather have smaller units: Buy a Star or Lance of 'Mechs for $20-30USD instead of $100+ for a single minifig-scale Heavy/Assault. More expensive sets can then be things like DropShips, MechBays, and battle scenery and other static items. Smaller, less expensive sets could be vehicles and individual 'Mechs.

Yes, but MegaBloks sells a lot cheaper than Lego, for instance, when Megabloks came out with Halo I purchased the first ed. warthog for 20$,
When you compare the piece count, number of minifigs, and custom colors, Megabloks wins by far. :)

Bump, with updated info!

Czar, the creator of the Atlas on Lego's Cuusoo site, also created the Rifter that the EVE Online community supported...and he just hit 10,000 votes with it. There will be an EVE Online Lego frigate made available sometime in the near future, as a result.

Yet, his Atlas only has 76 votes as of this post, for some odd reason. It's a great model, and it's even done in the style of the MWO Atlas, but it just isn't getting the attention it deserves.

If you go look at EVE Online's website, though, you'll see why: CCP, the developer of the game, has actually supported his Rifter model, and made sure their fans were aware of its existence. Once they were aware of it, they flocked to the Lego Cuusoo site, supported it, and pushed it from where it was, to over 10,000 Supporters (the mark where Lego starts working on the model) in less than a month. As a result, there are now three more EVE Online frigates in the works.

If one of the devs or website managers could make some sort of mention of this, or support it in a front-page update (maybe one of these upcoming Wednesday announcements?), it would almost certainly gain popularity, and supporters. If the Atlas passes the 10,000 mark, you know the possibility for a series of mechs would be a very real one.

Just a thought...

About the Cuusoo EVE model, reaching 10,000 votes does not necessarily mean it will be built, it means LEGO will consider the set for sale, but given that LEGO thinks everyone who buys their stuff are 5-10 years old, they aren't afraid to deny a set with the 10,000 votes.

With CCP backing it, I seriously doubt they'll turn it down. Also, I have to respectfully disagree with you regarding their demographical knowledge of their products; many of their sets are not built with children in mind at all. Some of them are specifically targetted at older consumers, perhaps even the ones who grew up with Legos, and still play with them (like me). :)

I don't see any downside to giving this a click, even though I have a couple of issues with that particular Atlas model.(The guns are too small and the torso and legs need to be larger relative to the head). However it would be some press for Mechwarrior if we could get some steam going for it. I do think it's rather pecualiar that there's a Firefly/Serenity set that has well over two thousand votes.(Yes I loved that show and cast a vote there.) Yet an ongoing science fiction universe can't get anyhwere near the amount of votes that an effectively dead(How I wish it were not so) franchise represented by a single TV series, One movie and a few graphic novels.

Seriously.

Mechwarriors let's show some interest in broadening our favored franchises appeal.

Now I'm sure there are differences between shaun of the dead and MechWarrior, but still not kid friendly enough that I think LEGO will go for it.

Here's a work in progress, for a Lego Technic Timber Wolf aka Mad Cat, minus arm weapon pods and legs. I have been working off and on on this for a while now, maybe some point I will get it finished and (hopefully) walking :)

Currently the arms raise and lower pneumatically, and rotate up and down, and the weapon pod mount rotates for aiming.

Thats some good work there. Too involved for basic legos by far so not sure how germane it is to the current thread's purpose, but very impressive stuff. Hmmm. I know a lot of folks who mess with RC helocopters, cars and planes for a hobby. Think there'd be a market for RC Mechs?

As mentioned earlier in the thread, Lego is not the only company who does licensed sets; we could always try to push for MegaBlocks, if Lego sticks their nose up at the idea.

Hmm. Interesting thread to be sure. In the long run, I doubt this would be something Lego would approve unless changes / comprimises such as these were made:

- downsizing of mechs to a point where they can still fit minifigures but be more "play" friendly. Think Exo-Force, but with some mechs still being significantly bigger.
- I could see them ignoring the Houses and going just IS vs Clan [almost all other lego series have had only 2 "factions"]
- Some names would end up getting changed
- There would be a lot of non-canon-ness [heresy!!!] in the sets

Think of something this size, but maybe with a mini-fig. For the marauder mini-set. [BTW - nice construction!!]

In short, I doubt Lego would ever make this a series, but I feel like Megablocks would not do it right either. I do not know about you, but when I look at mega bloks, I see "toys", not a building "system". What we want is a system, since the plastic toys will sit on a shelf and dust themselves into oblivion.

That was actually me who first put that idea up.

About Mega Bloks, there seem to be two levels of Mega Bloks sets, the toys, as you mentioned, which is most of their products, then the good stuff, their Halo sets have nearly as much quality as Star Wars LEGO sets, but at a fraction of the cost, not to mention Mega Bloks understands that that customer base is slightly older, and so don't waste time on the gimmicks LEGO seems obsessed with.

Agreeing with Rots on MegaBloks, although they probably wouldn't be 100% accurate, who would be, they could definitely churn out some sweet stuff that would be in 75-90% range of accuracy. I could also probably, depending on the mech, get two or three for the cost of one in legos.

YES YES AND YES. I would pay $200 for a 12-18" articulated Cauldron Born, Timberwolf, or Shadowcat!

http://www.brickcomm....com/BC-CBT.htm

I'm dead serious, I would pay retarded ammounts of money for this S***.

(As long as its real LEGO, not MEGA BLOCKS) seriously, screw MegaBlocks

K'NEX did this with the release of Mechwarrior 4.
I have all three sets the made. They also came out with two more, an Uziel and one other one I don't have.

I'd much rather see officially licensed TT minis based on Fd's designs than official building block brand building block sets. PGI get in contact with Iron Wind Metals and get some, preferably all, of these designs done into TT minis.
