That Locust is awesome. Different, but still recognizable thanks to the position of the MG arms and those long, thin birdlegs. The Archer I'm not so sold on. I mean, the basics are there, but it just looks... I dunno... Skinny compared to the original? I think it's the way the LRM launchers are perched on top of the shoulders rather than making up most of the side torsos.

The Marauder is one of the better redesigns I've seen of that mech, but I suspect it's a terribly difficult mech to redesign since the original is so very distinctive looking among the other original mechs. Some mechs might be mistaken for eachother, but noone would ever mistake the original Marauder for anything other than a Marauder since its silhouette was so different from every other mech of that era. The way the original Marauder was done it had this hunched-forward look which together with those long, thin arms with those heavy gunpods on the end sticking out in front of the mech's nose made it look like it waqs always just about to pounce on some unfortunate enemy. This one doesn't quite give me that hunched, predatory impression for some reason,

Again! Awesome artwork. Both thumbs up.
I would love to see what you can do with other egglike Mechs like Annihilator and Stalker or unseen QuadMechs like Scorpion or Goliath.

They are pretty good, but Marauder can look better. ;)

Perfect aartwok, though. :)

I have to agree with you, the OG Marauder can never be topped.

Amateur designer POV: So far, with these professional quality draft concept pics, you are drawing the line between designers and stylists. As an amateur, I am simply awed by the harmony of shapes and lines that in effect mark your style. I mean, guys, it does look easy like that, but it is really tough to make it appear fluid like that (I may get some fluidity on only some parts of my stuff so I am definitely not there). Plus there is a lot of research behind these and your love of BT shows through your art, man. Keep it up! So far, aesthetically and on the skill side, they are flawless.

MW Fan POV: Here are a couple of thoughts from personal taste. The legs seem too frail to suggest strong armor and thus would not feel like they can stand a good chance in combat. Also, legs appear to me as being too long on several of your models, which means the center of gravity is very high - that would not make sense unless you'd assume a very advanced, gundam-like gyro system. Maye it's just me, but in some cases, there is a plastic feel to parts of your 'Mechs as opposed to metal plate feel, but then again it may just feel like that because of the draft stage of the concept art. I respect your guts on going for originality, and would pilot your 'Mechs any time. I personally dig your Marauder (yep), your Charger and your Urbie (again yep!)

>Hawk out.

Your works are just great. They should hire you for their design crew.

What point in repainting is there? Same deal as with Mad Cat.

He redrawed mechs that needed it badly because of their UGLY look and then tried to make his own plausible unseens. ;)

That Marauder didn't go over too well with my table top player friends either. Its actually the revised version of a more traditional version seen to the left bellow. That one was more accepted but still not the "God's gift to mechs" I hoped it would be. Also, I really think we should try to get away from Robotech/Macross as much as possible. So that is why I pushed the arms up and to the back like on the version to the right. It as proper torso twist like you would need in a game engine 3D model or other real world function. Also, it looks like it could be a precursor to the Madcat/Timberwolf. I love the original Macross/Robotech version more than any other mech ever made in any medium in history. It is one of the most amazing designs ever put fourth and it has never been topped in over thirty years. Still, if we want to see a Marauder in any retail/free-to-play game we will have to step outside our comfort zone and accept some thing a bit more radical. Cheers

I do prefer your right marauder over the original draw on sarna. It looks very much stronger a thing to fear, instead of a monkey dragging its over-elongated arms around.

You're probably right about that. Still, the feel of the mech is important, and the version on the left in the above picture _feels_ a lot more like a Marauder to me. That said they are both great designs. One's just a Marauder and the other is some other awesome mech. :)

The marauder wasn't bad, I thought. Honestly, I like the idea of remaking the Unseen, hopefully so that they can be put in a game using something similar. Excellent work all around, and the Urbie looks amazing! :D

Can't believe no one's requested the Warhammer yet...

The hand pistol can be disingaged so the Charger can use its one hand to pick up items. Just like the Battlemaster with its PPC.

Love your unseen work. Some of the best redesigns I have seen. Way better then Project Phoenix. I really Like the way the Marauder looks.
