I had to vote devastator. We need some gauss rifle love in this game. I mean come on 2 gauss/2 ppc and med lasers. This mech epitomizes long range death.

Now we be looking at things from a MechLab pov so...

Raven - Could be useful if we get the right variant.

Dervish - No ballistic HP but has JJs while the missile and laser HPs can be fiddled with.

Black Knight - Firin' ma' lasers... and nothing else.

Devastator - This has got some real nice MechLab potential. And respectable speed for an assault.

Call me wierd...

I think the Raven is the obvious choice really.

It fits so well into the concept of MWO it's silly. ^_^

Dervish. A jack of all trade of sort but not quite so spread out like butter over too much bread. It doesn't pack on the goodies for specialty roles like hardcore scout or front-line brawler but it can help in so many situations.

Starting with the 4th Ed. box set I went through each weight class and found my favorites that won me so many objectives. Dervish was one of them. Others being Panther, Catapult, Hunchback, and Zeus. (crossing fingers for the last couple of my dream team)

The Raven is the only light mech most people know and they have this weird misconception that you will only be able to mount electronics on certain mechs.

Everyone has a hard-on for energy mechs, thus the Black Knight.

People are obsessed with PPCs and Gauss Rifles, thus the Devestator.

I'm going with the Dervish because it's the only one that's actually a decent choice from its weight group. All the others are here because very few people even bothered looking at the other mechs they've never heard of.

True, though I voted Black Knight mostly for the SL era nostalgia.

These choices are not going at all how I guessed they would.

I say ALL OF THEM

But if I have to choose...

The Black Knight desperately needs a redesign that doesn't suck. Something closer to the original, but with a better "armored" look. The MW4 design was retarded looking (no hands?) and its absurdly broad chest made it too easy a target.

Let us also not forget that the Black Knight is the only true command mech in its weight class in the Inner Sphere in 3049. With E-War taking a more prevalent role, that has to mean something. It is basically a bigger version of the Raven. If you like the Raven, you should want this too :P

Mecha-Masher did a Black Knight that actually looked pretty good. Something *closer* to it would be a step in the right direction:

I think FD could finally do the Black Knight justice.

Well...this is what happens when you get down to it. All pretty good mechs - but I'm going with the black knight. I'm going with it because we don't have a work horse heavy. Looks like the raven is going to run away with this though...

Had to go with the Raven. That opening cutscene from Mechcommander when I was a kid sold it for me :)
