"MechLab is the most complex system in the game. It's almost as large as Mech combat itself. That being said, trying to explain it's functionality at this point is almost impossible to make crystal clear for everyone. It all comes down to the interface and how everything is going to be handled in terms of restrictions of what you can and cannot do in MechLab. All we can truely do is ask you to wait until you get your hands on it before making any judgements as to what will break and what will not break etc.
We are MechWarriors ourselves and want the best game out there. Everyone has been putting forth ideas on how MechLab and its restrictions should operate and the design team is compiling all this feedback into a cohesive system. Yes, this kinda sounds like "shut up and wait", but to be 100% honest with you, you won't get it until you get your hands on it. At that time I will be more than happy to hear what your thoughts are. We just don't have the time to create a video or special assets to break it all down to the level of clarity that you're looking for. Open Beta approaches and you'll be able to tinker to your heart's content.
Sincerely,
Non-trolling Paul"
Thank you! So tired of all the people who think they "know" what's going to happen. Shut up and wait!

Same here, with RuneScape... when the devs alienated the player community and did what was 'good for business' but bad for the game. That said, MWO's team breaks all the previous limits for openness I've ever seen for devs of any game.
Level 1 - No communication, we find out when things happen. => Bioware
Level 2 - Dev->player communication only, feedback and questions are ignored. => Jagex
Level 3 - Devs respond to select feedback and questions (what's convenient for them to answer), and ignore the rest. => Blizzard
Level 4 - Devs respond to almost all questions on serious topics => Kingdom of Loathing
Level 5 - Devs visit threads on the forums and joke with us. => Pirahna
Not to say that openness is a be all and end all of what makes a good game company, since Bioware and Blizzard in particular make awesome games, imo. But I like the direction we are heading in, particularly for the model the game is based on.

I don't doubt that you guys want the best game out there and I and I"m sure others greatly appreciate both the sense you've shown so far and your interactivity with the community.
I hope that the dev team realizes that all the discussion on the mech lab (at least I can speak for myself) is with all the best intentions: i.e. to help you guys and provide input rather than to tear you down.
I personally haven't been this excited for a game in a long time, and its in large part because of what I've seen released by the dev team, not just because this is a MW property.
