Just saw the story posted by PCGamer here.... http://www.pcgamer.c...d-read-it-here/

About a copy of a Valve New Employee Handbook that has been leaked on the web.

http://cdn.flamehaus...book_LowRes.pdf

For fans of Dev companys, Valve, or the gaming industry in general its an interesting read.

Mods: My apologies if this breaks any terms of forums use. Please take it down if you deem it does.

Cheers.

What? You do not get empty promises of vacation for the whole team if the product is good? :D

lol.

To say that the read is interesting.... has really sold the booklet short. Valve's outlook on operations alone mirrors my own personal beliefs; beliefs which have been stifled by my current job. Beliefs which I've always held firm to and had hoped that another company embellished.

...It's kinda creepy, but in a cool way. :D

If there is a new employee handbook for any game company one should want to see it would probably be valve's, they know what they're doing.
Thanks for posting.

Even Valve has some flaws. At least they are too small to notice.

OK, Valve. I got a quip you can put on your Handbook's jacket cover....

"...was the final nail in the coffin that's making me put plan "BridgeBurner" into effect this Monday morning..." — Aegis Kleais

"...jokes made it funny, realizing I wasn't hired there made it sad..." — Aegis Kleais

"...37 pages chock full of Wisdom, Wonder and Josh Wei....Weer..... Josh Joshington." — Aegis Kleais

I've read a number of other articles in the past describing Valves unique structure and policies . I've always been a huge fan of theirs.

Great read and an insight into an interesting company .

The story has been picked up by a number of other reputable websites.

Cheers.

Seems rather interesting, but I somehow doubt that this is legit. Either way, the "Valve way" seems to be the way of the near and far flung future of gaming.

Employees only read the first two pages anyway. Nobody at Valve can count to 3.

They can use simple replacements. For example, the do not read 3rd page, they read 2nd+1st page.

Problem is, we do not want 2nd+1st games.

Just a follow up story, the Valve handbook was released on purpose.
