And yes, the BT U does have this covered. Pilots are ejected, travel around 100-ish meters, then land again a few moments later. They don't enter orbit.

Ah, well, there's that. So, when your 'Mech is destroyed on a planet with a toxic atmosphere you eject and then when you land you wait it out inside your cockpit hoping the other side doesn't win and come to step on you with their 'Mechs Posted Image

and yet, in MW2 and I THINK MW3 I was ejected to sub orbital altitude atleast, and I swear I remember seeing ejections in the cartoon that were sub orbital in altitude as well. so uh? Battletech cartoon taken from the TT... hmm...

And in MW4 you were ejected out of a random pod thing, even in the Wolfhound where the entire head of the 'mech would be ejected. Suffice to say, the MW games don't always get it quite right.

Meanwhile in TT, you land one hex behind your 'mech, just 30 meters away. Ejecting into orbit is completely ridiculous.

No, you got this wrong Capellan! Its CAPELLAN swattin time! Posted Image

I knows what I saw! and i saws them cuttin up lil grey men with almond eyes! oh, and i KNOW i saw sub orbital at minimum ejection in MW2 and in the BT cartoon. Its not ridiculous to eject to orbit, hard as hell to do safely? you bet, but not ridiculous in and of itself.

Does anyone remember a game that came out around 1999 called "G-nome"
or something like that? that was a pc mech game that had a great eject system
if memory serves correctly you could eject, sniper enemy cockpits run around as infantry like a BA

ps BA's can be very irritating to mech that cant target it...lol

Actually that'd make for an interesting effect. Your reactor gets breached, minutes later, your pilot starts vomitting uncontrollably. Not serious of course, but interesting to think about.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I thought most 'mechs have fusion reactors, not nuclear fission. A fusion containment breach would release a huge amount of energy, but still not like the trailer. It would be a nasty explosion though, akin to a large gas main explosion or fuel truck explosion.

Well if they do make one and it is accurate to previous lore as you said where the pilot is ejected into orbit, what does the player do then?

There is a system in MechCommander where pilot stats were tracked according to 'mech kills AND pilot kills. This is about the only way I could see an eject system serving any kind of function. If there were bonuses, let's say, for killing opposing pilots (no detriment to the other pilot of course), then maybe you could deny the other 'mechwarrior his pilot kill bonus at the last second. But other than that I don't see a real function to this.

Since, according to game-designer David Bradley, Mech pilot in MWO never dies, then ejection sequence would be a good and the most logical transition from the cockpit to the death-cam.

Finally, it would be a very spectacular scene, just like in MW-reboot trailer.

That actually sounds like it might be very interesting as a gameplay mechanic, almost like a minigame in itself. Try to kill the pilot before he can eject for bonus points.

I would think with the redesigned Mechs having a better ejecting system. I point to the Awesome since the Cockpit is more in the center torso than on top or where a head would be.

Didn't read all 4 pages, but to address the OP's issue, only a select few 'mechs eject with any type of pilot enclosure. The trailer was closer to the truth than previous Mechwarrior iterations. The command couch ejects via rocket packs, a parachute and deployable wings allow a pilot to control their descent according to the novels.

Some designs such as the Wolfhound and Hatchetman have the whole head assembly detach, however.

as long as theres a way to avoid falling into the exploding mech again, with some sort of control <for CS purposes> could be fun

HeartoftheJaguar, actually, you breach a fusion reactor, your exposed to lethal doses of radiation

What radiation? It's not Fission. Also, even if it produced radiation the fusion engine shuts down so quickly after a breach there wouldn't be any.

No because there will be no ejection in the game.

There should be. Die and lose more exp, due to *dying* or eject to preserve the exp.
