Will it hit WOT hard? No more than any other game. Just because MWO is another mechanized combat game doesnt mean it will drain WOT. MWO will appeal to MW and BT fans from all games so it will affect all games to some small degree. It will hit current MW games the hardest like MW4 and MWLL.

WOT population is already dangerously low, and the devs really have never shown anything but contempt for their player base. not even bringing up the horrible pay to win mechanics that exist in the game.

i have played wot for a long time, and have almost 30 tanks in my garage, all tier 10 tanks, most tier 8 premium tanks(not the type, wont do it)

i hope mwo crushes wot, they have been warned that pay to win will kill the game, and at this rate it will.

the devs have been quoted as saying, they know its pay to win, and just dont care, they want our money.

A poll, really? Sometimes I think polls are used just to avoid having to read the posts in ones own thread.

And I think for many (most) people MWO will have the same impact on WoT as the price of tea in china.

I wanted the poll so I could see actual numerical data.

also, now that I have a similar poll up in the WOT forums, I can compare the numbers

I can only speak for myself, but if MWO truly becomes what it seems to be shaping up to be, it'll definately draw me away from WoT. WoT is the first online multiplayer title (and F2P on top of that) that managed to spark my interest and keep me playing. I've been playing on a more or less constant basis for the past six months, which is a lot considering I normally stay away from online multiplayer as far as I can.

If MWO gameplay will be at least as fun (and I'm sure it'll surpass WoT sooner or later), that's one feat in itself... Add my craving for a new BT/MW game to that and you won't get me away from the PC anymore!

Your poll is fine, just ignore the malcontents and their "oh wow another poll" and "who cares" comments. Obviously enough people care to vote and post constructively, so, yeah ignore the cranks. :)

Hopefully little kids won't join up to play this game that would probably ruin it kinda like WoT and COD. But i guess if they do more kills for all the experienced playersPosted Image i just don't want play with little kids that are constantly talking about how they can't kill anybody.

Sorry to disappoint you, but my 10 and 11 year old boys are STOKED to drive mechs. I'll try to teach them tactics, but, well they're 10 and 11. Live it with ;)

Plus the graphics they have in the gameplay vids for MechWarrior Online already blow away WoT.

But you can also keep their hate speak and vitriol to a minimum (or at least teach them how to interact properly with team mates).

It's the 16-22 year olds I have issue with, because apparently common decency and manners died in about 1990 or so.

Consider MWO the death-knell of World of Tanks. That is my view at least. I have top tier tanks and I do not plan to return after Mechwarrior launches.

I rarely play WoT these days, it's simply overpriced IMO. So MWO is going to be the final nail in the coffin for that game. And my kids will likely stop playing WoT for MWO as well.

I agree i have been playing WOT since closed beta on and off and it really is just a grind and money sink.

You have to pay for a premium account ( which i have/ and did) if you want to get and stay over Tier V even then once you get to Tier VIII plus even if you have a premium account you have to run lower tier Tanks to support your higher tier Tanks.

Which in my view is a very dumb game model and is also at the top of the complaint list for alot of users.

I know when MWO comes out WoT will come off my computer and just be a distant memory.

If your kids are good then i am not complaining about them i am complaining the ones who try to think they are good but really suck. I just don't want to have to play with people don't know anything about Battletech or don't like to work with others which will be important in this game. I know that there will probably be people who jump on this game from WoT or play because it will be free so i am preparing myself for that.

Well the people of WoT will be "excited" to play the new World of Warplanes and World of Battleships when those come out.

I agree even though you might have to pay to play this game i would think it would be worth it because i think this game is going to be epic but i want to wait and see first.

I dont think there can be any doubt that MWO is gonna hurt WoT. I know 95% on my guild will be leaving as soon as MWO comes out. There simply is no comparision tanks vs battlemechs. I will say this, anyone who plays Tanks will have an advantage in MWO vs those that dont. I think the concept of scouting and line of sight will be very similiar between the 2 games.

I'll still keep doing match or few every now and then. The game is at it's best when you play it now and then, and starts going for worse the soon you slip into grinding mode. The only new tanks I'm planning to get are Marder III and T110.

But unless MW:O flops I doubt I'll pay for it anymore.

Quote for truth.

Its damn fun if u play it for its gameplay, exploding tanks never gets old. But as soon as u switch on the grind mode, it gets old within a few days.

Also, i doubt its going to suffer alot. Maybe the us servers but wot is huge in east europe and russia. Plus mwo isnt cateri.g to the ww2 panzer fans which is a hegu market on its own, as wot has proven.

Meh, I play WoT, I dont like the way the Devs are taking that game...

I'm planning to replace WoT with MWO... but as the nature of F2P MMOs... its kinda hard to do that...

However I think an interesting analogy to draw from this is that MWO is to WoT how EVE is to WoW...

I totally agree that a large portion of WoT NA players will leave for MWO...

Interesting topic. I think a lot of it will do with how MWO balances its game mechanics and its pay benefits system. WoT has a severely divided playerbase: detractors think it's too expensive, hate the matchmaking, and are bored of grinding tiers; the die hards love the arcade style and can't get enough of the new tanks and game mechanic tweaks. MWO will pick up a lot of the malcontents from WoT as well as the classic 'Mech fans who've been waiting for this game since Microsoft abandoned the license.

With all that said, I have to put in that I believe I will continue to play WoT (and WoWarplanes hooray!) while I try MWO out. I'm not holding out a ton of hope for this one just yet, as the devs are being unnecessarily vague on a great many points (and probably trying to please too many different fanbases), but as of now I can say that WoT isn't going anywhere soon for me.

That would be nice if they use the same scouting and line of sight that way people actually have to work as a team instead of free for all that WoT has turned into maybe that because i play with randoms on WoT. Hopefully when people come over to play MWO the people from WoT will have learned the concept of teamwork by then. ;)
