Come on, you think we drew that up and planned the entire pipeline for a 'Mech in a couple weeks? /work overload

(We were actually really happy it won because it co-incided with this release :))

I would have guessed you had several designs in the pipeline and so, when the Raven won the poll, you decided to release that first.

Well, they broke the seal on the 3050 mechs.

I am still not sure if the better plan would have been to keep pounding out 3025 mechs just to get them out of the way, also there is the fact that the Raven so top of the line tech wise, there is little to change/modify on it.

FD's art is fine, I don't understand the complaints. If they ever do the Locust, I can see the same design being implemented, as just the body would be changed.

Probably because what was changed about the Raven was one of the reasons that made it iconic and well liked.

Does '3050' mechs mean everything after 3025 but before Civil War and Jihad era? Because raven is in 3039 TRO.

Now that we have all the lights out of the way...

As previously mentioned, I'm not entirely sure I like the new direction, but I can't place my finger on what I don't like. So I'll say well done, FD. The work itself is superb, as always. Just not terribly thrilled with the subject matter. It's not even bad. It's just not my thing.

I think partially because it reminds me of a Catapult without the launchers. So... like a chibi-pult. Kinda.

I see some Liao green that looks a little out of place....this was a repainted, captured mech?

Fortunately yes, for us I mean, gets one more mech out of the hands of those crazy cappies.

Man what a smack in the face to the Laio faithful.....a Raven in Davion livery. I LOVE IT! :-)

I like the design, but when I look at it, the head/torso remind me more of a sleek Greyhound, not a Raven. Still love it though.

Not sure why everyone is not a fan of the design. It looks WAY better in my opinion, great job!

Rather than being reminiscent of an actual raven, it looks more like a fox or a wolf. I like it! But I'm so used to how the Raven normally looks it may take a while to love it.

Was excited when saw the Raven was battlemech 9 but then saw its new look. All the designs up to now have looked pretty amazing but this just makes a beautiful mech look down right ugly. What have ye got against round surfaces (Dragon & Raven) and drooping noses?

It's a good design. But honestly I'd seen enough of the raven. Was really hoping for the Dervish.

Those rounded surfaces are expensive render-wise. The over-riding design principle for anyone creating a real-time simulation video game is to design for good game performance over "beauty".

Ahh, I see it now. This is a captured Liao machine, with only a couple of hints of the old logo, underneath the Davion logo (triangle tip at the bottom, and part of the sword tip at top right).

This would be a Tikonov veteran. 1st Crucis (New Avalon) Lancers would be the ones to have taken this mech from the stinking Cappies after taking Tikonov from them as well.

Also, per Sarna, many of the Ravens captured by the Federated Suns in the Fourth Succession War were refitted to the 2X standard. It replaces the EW equipment with a Large Laser and raises the armor to 6.5 tons. So that might come into play as a variant or possible Mechlab configuration.

Another clue to the capture is the painted over letters on the lower center torso. The painted over letters appear below the logo in the picture.

Knew it was coming, but honestly I don't like the way it looks that much. Plus....I've just never been a fan of the Raven :(

The bird is looking up in that picture, so it might not be curved downward but it is curved, and it should be fairly obvious to see actually.

But regardless of what a bird's beak looks like, he was talking about the drooping nose of the battlemech Raven, you can see it here:

No Firefly? I am disappoint. Looks like I get to hunt two of my least favorite 'mechs now.
