The Warhammer has been redesigned for battletech, along with the Archer, Wasp, Stinger, Valkyrie, Marauder, and Pheonix Hawk. The redesigns are /not/ bad, at all. I actually kinda prefer the redesigns over the originals in a lot of way. I'd love to see reseen (Redesigned) Marauder in the game.

IMO, some of the redesigns are ok. I like the Phoenix Hawk and that is something since it holds a dear place in my heart from my early BTech and MW days. The marauder reseen is terrible. On the other hand, much of the work FD has done to this point with the MWO designs deviates enough from what is in the TRO's that I think he could do any of the unseens with enough deviation in the artwork do avoid legal entanglements. So, I really want the following: Marauder, Shadow Hawk, Battlemaster, and Phoenix Hawk.

Otherwise, let's see an Orion for mech 10. (Though I do think it will be a medium...so...Feds Suns turn?? Enforcer?)

Otherwise, let's see an Orion for mech 10. (Though I do think it will be a medium...so...Feds Suns turn?? Enforcer?)

Considering what we have now:

Light
Commando - small but proportionately well-armed scout and ambusher
Jenner - very fast and agile recon 'mech and light striker
Raven - dedicated EW platform and target marker

Medium
Hunchback - tough but fairly slow brawler (with some fire support variants)
Centurion - all-rounder workhorse, fairly slow, balanced weapons profile (with some faster 3050 upgrades)

Heavy
Dragon - fast skirmisher with decent long-range firepower
Catapult - agile direct and indirect fire support variants

Assault
Awesome - slow, heavily armored long-range direct fire platform (with some faster 3050 upgrades)
Atlas - slow but super-tough close range brawler (with some long-range 3050 upgrades)

We already have two fairly slow 50-tonners in the medium bracket... I'd rather see something faster and more agile in there, like a Phoenix Hawk, Chameleon, or Dervish.

For heavy, I'd agree with Orion or a Flashman for a tough all-rounder, or a Guillotine for a maneuverable brawler.

For assault, a Victor for an agile and fairly fast close-support 'mech, or Stalker for a heavily-armed, multi-range juggernaut. Or a Zeus, just because I've always like it. ;)

5/8 is pretty much 'average' for the heavier end of medium mech. 6/9 starts to get into bigger engines (talking 300 or more rating at even 50 tons) which is a significant weight investment without XL engines. 4/6 is /SLOW/ for a medium mech, and average for a heavy. A medium that only moves 4/6 is imho, lacking a serious disadvantage against the big boys and cruisin' for a bruisin'. Especially the short ranged mechs like the Hunchback. Hunchback is great in tight confines, but scrap in any sort of ranged fight with a top range of 270 meters.

We need at least one 5/8/5 medium (Why we have no jump jets on our mediums either is beyond me) and a 6/9/6 medium as well to have a serious scout hunter. This (as a hunter) is where the Chameleon would shine, good speed, heavy firepower (At least enough to slaughter light mechs with ease) for example. Wolverine is an awesome well rounded command platform for the mediums.

For heavies, we really need some serious wannabe assaults, Orions (238 armor!), Marauders (Reseen, unseen, whatever), and the like.

EDIT: Cuz Advantage is really DIS*advantage

I think a good, solid medium mech will be released next. Possibly an Enforcer? Maybe a Dervish?

I'm thinking the next mech we will see will either be the Vindicator (medium 45 tons) or the Jagermech (heavy 65 tons).

Neither of these would be the mechs I would pick from their respective weight classes but given that these mechs have appeared in past games and do not fall into the unseen category, IMO these are the likely contenders.

If it was totally up to me it would be a Phoenix Hawk for the medium and a Warhammer for the heavy.

Here's hoping my hunch will be wrong and my wishes will come true ;)

Don't be too disappointed but there's a 0% chance of that happening.

Need some more medium mechs!

The Shadow Cat is 1) a Clan mech. 2) It's not even been put into production yet. I'm expecting a medium mech. Maybe a Vindicator?

MW:O takes place 4-5 years before the Shadow Cat was even seen in the InnerSphere. So basically, you'd have to wait until around 2015/2016ish before you have a chance of using it. That is, if the developers stick to the 1:1 timeline idea.
