Shall we see any OTHER mechs?

Let us count a bit:
Atlas - seen in MechCommander, MechWarrior 3: Pirates' Moon, MechWarrior 4, MechCommander 2 (4 total)
Awesome - MC, MW 3: PM, MW 4 (3 total)
Centurion - MC, MW 3: PM (2 total)
Catapult - MC, MW 4, MC 2 (3 total)
Commando - MC
Dragon - MW 4: IS mechpack
Hunchback - MC, MW 4: IS mechpack, MC 2 (3 total)
Jenner - 0 total, or is there anything I'm missing?
Raven - MC, MW 4, MC 2 (3 total)
I'm not saying any of the above is a bad mech, but hey!
Am I the only one to think it is a bit silly? We are piloting the same designs over and over in every next game, while we still have a plenty of CLASSIC mechs here, which had never made a video game appearance.
I say, give me that Dervish, give me a Thunderbolt and a Battlemaster, or whatever other design we hadn't seen on screen yet! It is not likely that I personally would stick to any of those in the game, but I am most eager to see some new faces on the battlefield.
Seriously, if a Sunder* is a next mech announced, I'm leaving here. I just do not want another mech to ride the 3rd game in a row.
*yep, I know it is out of the timeline, and it won't be here; but I think you've got my point:)

Should we have something different just for the sake of having something different? I don't think so, no. There's a reason why the 'Mechs that are in the game are in the game. People want them in the game.

MW1, MW2:Mercs and MekTek MW4 (IIC version) at least.
Personally I think there are some awesome 'mechs that haven't just made into the games previously, for whatever the reason. I don't think they are any less cooler (and can be more) than some of the usual ones. Take FD's King Crab for one.

That's exactly my point - the BT universe does have a variety of things to offer, and I personally would like to see those.
PS: so, you are telling me, Dervish and Thunderbolt do not qualify for ICONIC or FAVOURITE? lol

I agree with the OP actually, it would be good to see some more unusual or less requested designs make it in. I think it would be good to install the game and be surprised at some less seen designs.

A quick fix.
I have not played the first Mechwarrior, though.

Not that I don't see where you guys are coming from, but honestly, whether a 'Mech has made it into previous games or not isn't a factor behind whether I like it or not. There's quite a few 'Mechs out there that I haven't played before that I like though, but also plenty which have appeared before that I do.
The Firestarter, Kintaro, Dervish, No-Dachi and Stinger LAM come to mind.
Thing is, many of the previous games incorporated certain designs because TT players loved them a lot, so it's not exactly surprising to see them repeatedly appearing. Or to put it another way, the very reason why they appear so often is because people wanted them to.
I'd look at each 'Mech on its own merits and forget that the previous MechWarrior titles ever existed. If the mix of 'Mechs in MWO, when looked at in that way, is boring (offers same playstyle, etc), then it wouldn't be good; if they offer variety in what they bring to the battlefield, the loadout is good.
So far, looking with that classification, the only problem I have is with both the Commando and Jenner both being in, since they're SRM/Medium Laser hunter lights. The Atlas fulfills the mobile fortress role itself, the Awesome the energy boat, the Catapult a long ranged indirect fire heavy, the Dragon the flexible heavy, the Hunchback a short ranged direct fire heavy, the Centurion the flexible medium, the Raven the equipment heavy light spotter, and the Commando and Jenner with the same role - only the Jenner has Jump Jets.
At launch I'd anticipate people going for all the chassis, but the light 'mech hunter crowd will be split between those two, with the Jenner probably winning since it can jump. That is something I'm not quite happy with.
Looking forward to future releases (since it's kinda hard to change the past) I could use a medium 'Mech scout (Cicada), a direct fire heavy (Flashman and/or Marauder), an anti-energy harasser (Firestarter), a long ranged assault (Longbow), a spotter medium (Kintaro), a short ranged assault/area denial weapon (King Crab), a Command Mech (Battlemaster), a medium fire support Mech (Trebuchet and/or Dervish) and of course, a short ranged light 'mech killer/target practice (UrbanMech).
Of these the one with the most special role is the Battlemaster - thus something I'm really hoping to see.
Some of these have appeared in games, some others not yet, but it doesn't make as of a difference to me as what they do in combat.

*yep, I know it is out of the timeline, and it won't be here; but I think you've got my point:)
The Jenner was the starting mech in the original mechwarrior game, and it was one the starter mechs the First Crescent Hawk game. So ancient history.
I will admit that I'm not too upset about the mech choices thus far. I am especially pleased by the inclusion of the Jenner, Commando and Dragon.
The two substitutions that I would have made is to swap the Raven for a Spider and maybe, just maybe I might swap the Centurion for an Enforcer.
I can see good arguments for most the mechs being in the game.
Centurion and Hunchback, while being faction specific, are common enough outside of both those factions to make good generalist mechs. They both earn their place in the starting line up.
The Atlas was the Iconic assault mech and once again is spread evenly if thinly throughout the innersphere.
The Awesome is the quintessential assault mech and while I'm not a huge fan of the design personally it makes sense in the starting line up.
From here on in the mech announcements should start to get interesting. To keep the mech selection balanced we are going to have to see some of the less well know mechs.
I would expect that we will see stuff like the Clint or Hermes come out for the mediums and the Orions for the heavy.
We could Still use some more fire support mecsh so there is room for the Trebuchet and Jaegermech in the game.
I know that people are really hoping for the Black Knight, but after hearing some rumours about heat from the Friends and Families beta I suspect that the Black Knight will be a disappointment to people who first ran into in MW4.

Capellan Confederation: I should see the Raven
Federated Commonwealth (Suns): Maybe I can see 1 or 2 Ravens, but more likely, Commando, Valkyrie, maybe Spider
D.C.: Panther. The end.
Marik: Hermes
Lyran: Atlas... LOL. Wolfhound
St. Ives: What ever.
FRR: Panther

But yes, I'm with you on this. It doesn't matter if the mechs have already been in any MW title. Especially since MWO will provide as a never before seen way to pilot them. It won't be "Been there, done that." but rather "Wow, it never felt like this!"

That being said, I am personally hoping we will eventually, if not initially, have a lineup almost exactly like MW2: Mercs.
