FRR should have the Viking. sure we have to wait 20ish years for it. Most of the mechs theyve released I like but I would have preffered wolfhound or panther to raven. Raven is too much like the jenner.

Remember two huge words when it comes to what mechs can be used. SEEN / UNSEEN. Thanks to the "Sick Yada's" at harmony gold taking any thingthat has two color shades that look the same as their robocrap stuff to court. PGI only has only so many they can use, and they want to make money by releasing more content at a cost to us soooo why would they give us the whole cookie jar at once

Isnt Robotech dead and buried? Do they STILL fight about the "unseen" classical Battletech mechs?

I would so love to see the really old classics included in MWO.

Battlemaster
Warhammer
Rifleman
Locust
Marauder
Phoenix Hawk
and so on..

Robotech is pretty much dead. The true one the Macross line isn't but thats not owned by effing Harmony Gold. And the Warhammer probably could not look anything like the Warhammer if its going to be in. At least till HG stops being little girls and crying foul anytime something looks REMOTELY like one of the destroids (which HG pretty much stole from the company that owns macross anyways. they cut out alot of stuff)

Yes they do, the book Battletech: 25 Years of art & Fiction contained unseen images (it came out in 2009). It was immediatly pulled after it was revealed that there were mistakes made in the legal department. A number of unseen mechs became seen again as a result.

*in the voice of Bender* Harmony Gold can bite my shiny heavy metal... <thwack> OW! What was that for?

The destroids in Macross/RoboTech look a LOT closer to 'Mechs than the anime transformers that they accompany. Plus, they get used as cannon fodder most of the time. Sadly, the logical arguments for making them part of MechWarrior aren't the same as the legal side of things. :(

By the way, that 'Mech list for MW2Mercs is the best I've ever seen. I never got to play it. Guess I'll go digging around the Interwebz and find a way to do so. Now, my personal 'Mech list for MWO- assuming, say, 16 'Mechs at launch- would be as follows (I'm including released 'Mechs):

Light
Commando
Mongoose
Jenner
Raven

Medium
Cicada
Centurion
Hunchback
Dervish

Heavy
Dragon
Catapult
Thunderbolt
Orion

Assault
Awesome
Zeus
Mauler
Atlas

PGI planned to use familiar MW mechs for launch to bring all the fans of previous MW games into MWO. It also allows Flying Debris to modernize iconic mechs first.

well if we go back to 2009 the warhammer that was in the first demo had Hampstercrap Gold sending a Cease and Desist order to PGI because it had a hint of their robocrap and they are trying ot bring it back to life

MW4:Mercs with the MekTek IIC pack covered a lot of the in universe mechs, however there is a distinct lack of my two favorite Mechs in any of the computer games, and more importantly my favorite weapon.

THE HATCHET and the aptly named HATCHETMAN and AXMAN!

Talking about doing something different, how about including something that's been missing from the MechWarrior computer games from the very beginning, MELEE! Seeing as it is a major part of Succession War era strategy, due in no small part to the unrestricted urban warfare of the time, as well as lack of efficient supply chains for ammunition and spare parts (or complete lack of spare parts due to lack of factories).

It was even the marked single advantage IS pilots had over Clan pilots, because Mech Melee combat had been elevated to an art form in the Inner Sphere by the time the Clans invaded, a form of combat that the Clanner MechWarriors despised and avoided more than anything else because they viewed it as "un-honorable" which is just how they viewed every IS Mercenary and even the majority of the IS House Units.

No. The C&Ds were sent to game sites hosting the trailer. PGI have denied it twice already that there was ever any legal battle. The claims that Harmony Gold tried to take any legal action against PGI are unsubstantiated rumours started by idiotic, alarmist articles/blog posts like this, and have been denied by PGI's co-founder/creative director. Who are you going to believe, Bryan or some faceless blogger?

Sorry for the derail, I'm just tired of people spreading rumours that started due to video game "journalists" suffering from poor reading comprehension.

technically if you want to get into IS battlemechs, thanks to the Mektek mekpacks.. the warhammer, crab centurion, hollander II, jenner, locust/koto and a few others got some face time in MW4 albiet unofficially. I'm sure there was one or two others added I just cant recall at the moment.

Furthermore the hunchback, dragon, highlander and zeus were playable but not in campaign missions, sure enough you did fight all of those mechs...but could not salvage or buy any of them.

What I'd like to see....the King Crab....as far as I know never in any MW game to date it's ironic the Awesome, it's energy-based counterpart play gets so much face time that it's face is missing...

Even the Raven is that era, it's first release in 3028 was in the Capellan Confederation Handbook. This was before the timeline really started moving forward (with the 4th Succession War). At the time, the Timeline was pretty much immobile.

True enough. Given its history,

Quote

"The Raven is a technological marvel and employs a large number of advanced electronic warfare systems, possibly making it the most advanced light 'Mech on the field, at least in detection and targeting equipment. It was first built by the Capellan Confederation as an electronics test bed unit that was pushed into combat during the Fourth Succession War, when the Federated Suns made a concentrated effort to destroy the Liao state. Since that time, rediscovered Star League technology has allowed the Raven to reach its full potential.

and

Quote

The recovery of lostech soon made the original ECM equipment obsolete, and later versions of the Raven completely replaced it with a combination of advanced systems, namely an Apple Churchill Beagle Active Probe, an Apple Churchill Guiding Light Narc Missile Beacon, an Apple Churchill Guardian ECM Suite, and finally an Apple Churchill 442x TAG.

it is likely the model we are dealing with would be considered post 3028... perhaps.
