Lone Wolf Website History
Lone Wolf Icon/category was created by PGI, We Lone Wolf's noted they had no offering of helping Lone Wolf's outside Pick Up Groupings aka Pug's
As other pilots under the Lone Wolf Banner started gathering and discussing what to do; So We formed The Lone Wolf Support Website; Ronin-Kensei.org
Brief note on the registered name : there were several "Lone Wolf" sites (not related to MWO), so We went with Ronin-Kensei.org and advertise as a Support group for fellow MWO Lone Wolfs. Ronin Kensei is from Japanese Meaning roughly "Masterless Sword Saint"
With the Initial rush to claim Lore/Canon Names, and Units;
We were amused when PGI said ""Opps Sorry - No Way.""
MWO Lore tells a story of a group that ran as ""Lone Wolves"" but we are not that group
We are not a Formal Unit, MercCorp, or such....
We are Single Mech Pilots running in packs of our choosing
We offer: NO Ranks, NO Drama
Just log in, Connect to Team-speak, Join a team, or hit our PUG room - and Roll
Our Forums offer advise from many very Experienced pilots, on Mechs, Mech Tactics, and Mech Load-outs
Lone Wolfs vs Lone Wolves
Isn't it something about proper nouns pluralising singular entities?
IE. Toronto Maple Leafs, not Maple Leaves.
Basically, everyone in the group is a wolf, and though they are all being grouped together by virtue of what they are, they are not, in fact, a distinct group of 'wolves'; they are wolfs. This is the 'herd of mavericks' school of English.
Lone Wolf vs. PUGS
So lets go through the differences real quick .......
PUP
Pick Up Player - randomly dropping in any match regardless of faction affiliation: BUT your choice of Affiliation has bearing on you for those matches
PUG
A Group of PUP's just looking for a quick match, and hoping they doesn't die
LONE WOLF
Unaffiliated Pilot aka not sworn to allegiance to any House, House Unit or MercCorp. Factions warfare should have or has no bearing on your ability to fight where, and when you want.
So we at the Lone Wolf website, have been gathering a few rules we play by, and or avoid.
Here are a few of the important ones; the others you will learn on the job
The Golden Rule: No F'ing Drama - Don't create it, We don't tolerate it
RULE NUMBER 1 - Never Ever Log Off with a Lose
Other rules:
1: You must be an Un-Affiliated Pilot -> kind of self explanatory
2: No Ranks, Leadership, or Ego-Stroking-Stature will be bestowed, given or awarded.
3: Game when you want, with who you want: no demands will ever be placed on our fellow pilots
4: You are only asked to register on Enjin, our website sponsor. It's free so no big deal - That allows us no advertisements spamming our site, and we can keep our secrets amongst ourselves - if there are any
Ok, now a few things to be aware of, that are not rules, but the social dynamics of running with the LW's
A: We really hate Drama, ( it happens we have seen it, but we try to avoid it, offenders will be removed )
B: We only Tease people we like ( you better have a thick skin around us, but its all in good fun, and we never leave you to die - if we can avoid it)
C: We try to be family friendly -- (the key word is try, my Grandson often listens and watches, soooo yeah but, then again no rules, swearing does happen...)
D: Friendly Fire Will Happen: (often we just start fighting for the hell of it, it really confuses the enemy, but we are laughing our heads off all the time) Team killing.,., ehhh Never!
E: Bring your own Cider, and Chicken - this can only be explained on Team Speak.. I won't even attempt it here....
