Maybe. But it's not like Clan 'mechs need any more advantages and the hardpoint system they're applying to the IS designs is how the omni system was described as in most of the literature. If the devs set it up so that people can do whatever the heck they want with the space available to them (as the rule books specify, as opposed to story based descriptions) I won't cry, but I hope this advantage is balanced in some way. As it is, there's going to have to be a two to one advantage in favor of the IS in games to actually level the playing field.

We'll blow up that bridge when we come to it, I wager. I'm sure the devs have something in mind as opposed to keeping the sides 12 v 12 when the Clans are introduced.

Really, considering the rest of the advantages Clan mechs have, the customizability of the Omnis are fairly minor (not to mention that not all Clan mechs are Omni).

I'm sure they have something in mind. Because otherwise the introduction of the Clans will be a game breaker.

Pleasepleaseplease tell me that BattleMech customization will be expensive... I know OmniMech customization, at least with weapons, will be cheaper than BattleMech weapon swaps, and OmniMechs don't even have to worry about what kinds of hardpopints they sport because all of them are missile/energy/ballistic compatible. Sure, they still have to worry about the number of hardpoints they have to mount weapons on, but they aren't limited by the hardpoint type...

... or at least that's how I hope they implement it.

For people talking about omni tech, mind you this is all after 3050 that this happens, I believe there's Battlemechs that were manufactured off scrapped Clan tech before then but I think they might not be full blown omnis. Example the Bushwhacker.

The IS developed quite a few Omni mechs of their own after the clan invasion

Inner Sphere Omni Mechs

3058

Raptor, Owens, Strider, Firestarter (Omni), Blackjack (Omni), Blackhawk KU, Avatar, Sunder

3060

Arctic Fox, Men Shen, Haptmann

3067

Perseus, Templar

Raptor is already coming out 3 years too (introduced at about the same time as Battle of Tukayyid happened). Of course, it's a 25 ton and we'll need to wait for few more years for the bigge ISr omnis.

(posted this in the wrong topic, so here we go again)

I bet the next mechs will be Banshee (for the Assault class) and Quickdraw or JagerMech (for the Heavy).

They are all classics (come in the starter TT box) and have several variants, both tech level 1 and 2.

The Banshee would be a great rival to the Atlas, the Quickdraw would add a very mobile all-round heavy fighter ("into the fray" style) and the JagerMech would add a light autocannon platform (long range support).

I hoped for the Trebuchet, but we already have the Catapult, so I think they will wait to release it.

PS: please stop asking for clan or unseen mechs. Warhammer and Marauder are unseen mechs, and won't be release for legal issues. We love them because how they look - so there is no point in releasing them with the reseen designs (which are just ugly).
And Clan mechs will not be in the game yet! Get over it.

For anyone still arguing about Reseen/Unseen

Are you sure? I heard there was a bit of a snafu with that, as in they thought they were legal again, but then were not. I'm going off of hearsay, I have no idea what's going on with them.

the whole idea of OMNI slots is 100% customization. anything anywhere so long as it fits. making it as restricted as the IS mechs is going against the idea of OMNI in the first place.

From what I've read that the devs have released in terms of how this is all going to play out, they're against the idea of boating, which gives me the feeling that even omni 'mechs are going to be somewhat restricted.

Not that it matters. With the odd way that they decided on what weapons took up what number of criticals you can easily mount six LRM-15s on a Mad Cat anyway.

Yeah well, hopefully there'll be some way to restrict the number of Mad Cats on the battlefield so the IS isn't restricting to running nothing but Atlas'.

I doubt they will stop us fielding our TImber Wolves in huge packs. But, then again, some like smaller mechs. Why? IDK honestly... Never understood why someone would sacrifice armor and weapons for a lil speed...

annoying lil gnats is all you get out of that.... leg em all, swat em dead.

Reseen are the ones that are legal since they technically dont look like the Macross anime mechs.

Unseen are the ones that Harmony gold gets their panties in a bunch about.

But really it'd be interesting if the Devs put their own spin on them (like they've been doing). So we'd get something much cooler I hope.

If the devs don't have some way to ensure balanced teams the game won't last. I know that I'm not interested in playing when one side is guaranteed to win every battle, it's no fun for anybody.

*edit* - if I had to guess they're probably going to have a setup where you choose your 'mech and it finds a match for you. So if you choose a light 'mech it'll find a match where a light 'mech fits and both teams are automatically balanced. So you choose your Mad Cat and you hit "find match" and you sit and wait until a game opens up where you fit, that way the IS players won't have to deal with 10 Mad Cats in a single match, and if 3/4 of all players on the Clans side want to use the Mad Cat they'll have to wait longer for a match than those who mix it up and use other 'mechs.

But that's just a guess. I have no freakin' clue, but it seems like the easiest way to solve that problem.

I THINK they may <when they give us the clans as playable....thinking that this WILL happen since they say it is all PvP basically> they MAY go from 12v12 to something, scarier, 6v12 where the 6 are clan players. Just a thought...
