Look at it this way Bryan. Everytime you see that picture imagine Paul is one of the characters with the following caption over his head:

Obviously this decision has ruffled a few feathers. To many of us, being told we can't be the unit of our choice is akin to being told we can't play the game. Obviously that is not the case. But the feeling was present. We may have voiced that opinion firmly, and perhaps more strongly than you might have considered when planning this decision.

The decision hurt.

Not in a permanent disfiguring soul twisting emotionally traumatic way. But like a quick sharp slap. And sometimes people slap back.

But we still love the guys making that decision. We will still play the game those guys are building.

We will find a way to conform to this ruling as we will all other rulings.

We love you guys too and we know you are putting forth the best effort you can to make the best game you can.

I'd like to think that we (NWH) have done a noble job of responding to the trolls and haterz in a respectful way. I don't think we have slung the poop and barbs that have been slung our way. And if we have, I apologize for that.

We are not children whining over spilled milk. We are adults firmly committed to understanding why this decision was made and making it clear that we disagree with the scope and breadth of that decision in hopes of having that decision be clarified and liberally applied.

Thank you Bryan, and all the others at PGI for having the courage to make a game in a franchise we all love dearly and perhaps sometimes too much.

I think FD really got goosebumps when he draw it. Because if this happens "you know when", even people like you, Aegis, are going to be at the pithfork-torch combo side.

I still don't get how there was "miscommunication"? There was never an answer on the direction this was going. If anything there was an indication that a decision like this was coming. Many of you just chose not to pay attention or were in denial.

I think all of you who are quick to condemn players who are heartfelt about their canon names are forgetting one thing: the anger crowd is in the minority. Stop lumping anyone with a canon unit name (intentional or otherwise) in the same category. Many of us knew this would happen, many of us had/have back-up plans, and many of us support the decision.

Hey, at least we still have the game, I mean it could be worse. What if this project had low funding, or the production was too expensive or something like copyright claims that were placed in the beginning of the games questioning to the copyright owners of the BT universe? We still have them to thank for all of this hard work, and not even bothering to ask for anything in return. So what if just one thing does not go our way? We still have the game and the awesome dev team.

Several groups here were lead to believe by one of the PGI employees that they cannot play as "Canon Unit Name" but they were, indeed, allowed to play as "CanonUnitName." A second PGI employee, later, said that the aforementioned employee was mistaken and that you cannot, indeed, play as "CanonUnitName."

That is a rundown of the miscommunication.

I just discovered that one of my favorite games ever is coming back! I've played every mech game I could get my hands on (MW4 is still loaded on my HD and played every now and then!) and even beta'd EA's mech online/multiplayer (What a disapointment when they dropped it). Well I guess good things come to those that wait. I can't wait to strap into a mech and go hunting again!
