Warrior, Blood of Kerensky and Gray Death Legion are all decent places to start. Gray Death Legion is before the other two if you like chronological. Blood of Kerensky will gear you up to understand the rough beginning of MWO and the Clan Invasion that starts early next year.

Last I checked most (all?) of the older books set in the era this game will take place in are not available on Kindle, and many of them are no longer in print. I think the first Mechwarrior books I read years ago were about the Gray Death Legion.

As I browse Amazon it appears as though none of the old books are available for the Kindle. Hopefully this will change... it seems like such an easy way to make money on old content.

It looks like most, or all of them are available used, but getting them on an eReader might be difficult.

I try to buy as many as i can in hardcopy, even though the used books profit go to the book store not CGL, but I also have been getting in to the metal crack that is minatures, and must divide my funds accordingly. As most of them are all out of print anyways, go find yourself a torrent with some of the novels and then use Calibre to convert them to your ereader's format.

If you have it in .pdf it'll work on a Kindle straight away. If you have it in some other format chances are this will get it working on a Kindle...

I believe you should be able to get eReader compatible versions of the books from Battlecorps (if you want to support the company).

Could you post a URL? I prefer to support the company, but I'm not sure where they have the eBook versions of the old novels on their site.

Well the first BT novel was Sword and Dagger, which gave the backstory for what caused the Fourth Succession War, an attempt by Max Liao to replace Hanse Davion with a double. One of the really good books was Wolves on the Border, about Wolfs Dragoons and House Kurita. It gave a pretty good look into the Draconis Combine mindset. Along with the original Gray Death Legion trilogy that covers all the pre-fourth succession war stuff, so probably those would be where to start, though Some of these may be hard to find. There was also a collection of short stories put out called Shrapnel if I remember correctly that was pretty good, looked like a full size game sourcebook.

There's also sources for out of print books in text format, if one knows where to look...

Whatever you do, skip 'The Sword and the Dagger'. The entire time I was reading that book I was amazed it was actually published, so poor was the quality of writing. It was the only BT book the author wrote, as opposed to other authors who were contracted to write entire series, which should probably tell you something.

Edit: Oh, here's a reading order, as opposed to publication order, someone went through the trouble of making. It's what I've been using: http://www.stargazer..._novel_list.htm

I could continue but I think there are several other threads if search function is used.
I think most of the BT books were rereleased as E-Books a while ago
