but buying mechs with real cash again, is the first step in the pay to win birth process. leave MTs as fluff only. sheesh.
BUT, why am i even bothing to try to debate this. too many full cups...
The AWS-8Q has 3 PPCs and a small laser, the THG-11E has 2 PPCs and 2 SRM-6s. The Awesome has a BV of 1,605, while the Thug has a BV of 1,640. Ladies and gentlemen, this is what some in the MMO community call a "side-grade". Can either 'Mech be called superior over the other? Well I think it would depend on the pilot, now wouldn't it? In theory, those two missile and two energy hardpoints aren't going to confer any clear advantage over the four energy hardpoints in the Awesome. So again, I have to ask - are you paying for an advantage, or are you paying for a slightly different 'Mech?
How is "buying 'Mechs with real cash the first step in the pay to win process"? If PGI do their jobs correctly (and I'm sure they will) you won't be able to buy a 'Mech that would confer any special advantage to someone over other players... i.e. a Timber Wolf in 3049...

It's an uphill battle my friend, be prepared for slogging and the cries of 'troll' and 'flamer'. May you be blessed on your journey.
On Topic: I'd prefer them to release them every week or two, as they got them, one at a time rather than as a pack. A pack implies that you buy them together. I dislike that idea because if they packaged a locust with a shadowhawk and a rifleman, I'd only want the locust, shadowhawk and rifleman are not chassis I'd ever play just based on sheer looks.
So, single mech release, as often as they can for me.

And which players would that be? Have anyone specific in mind, or group of players perhaps? How many players in your mind, do you think it would take for PGI to capitulate and thus alienate its fan-base? There was a poll in a recent thread (don't have the link, sorry) that asked whether this game should include unique variants (i.e. Butterbee, Prometheus), needless to say the majority of the people who voted voted "no". So I think we're safe in that regard.
Besides, I think the higher-ups at PGI are grown-up enough, and have enough of a love for this franchise to not cave into "peer pressure" in that regard. Maybe not Paul though, you never know with that guy.

I think that anything you can buy in game with in game money should be also purchasable with real money. Similarly, anything you can buy with real money, you should be able to buy with in game money. This allows people who do not want to spend time grinding, some of them unable to spend that time grinding, to play with the toys they want, while the people who enjoy grinding or have no available income and plenty of freetime can do likewise with the toys they want. All new content should be free to download: The playground should be free, it's only the toys that should cost time OR money to play with, but you shouldn't have to spend anything to see and play with the other kids' toys.
And I suppose I could see things like fuzzy dice as a real money-only item.

I have to ask...
Would you consider having a GTL-3N Guillotine (http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Guillotine) available as only in the Marketplace "Pay to Win" if the GHR-5H Grasshopper (http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Grasshopper) was available via C-Bills?

Why? As long as they both have identical (or nonexistent) unused Hard-Points, what does it matter? The GLT looks goofy and has a larger profile. People would only buy it if they had an irrational love for the chassis, or wanted to flaunt their cash (because when you can't keep up with the Joneses, at least you can keep up with teh internets).
