Quote

I used the Jenner's jumpjets to perch on a hill looking down on the valley, and though I was quickly chased off by laser fire, my team was already using the targeting data I'd relayed them to lock on and launch volleys of missiles from halfway across the map -- one of the main advantages to having a scout in play.

This makes me happy

Well written article by a writer who is not a mech/BT fan but gets the difference between fps/sim. Well written, great insight into role warfare. A joy to read.

Yep no love on the new screens either. Dead links

Every pic I've seen of the dragon, I think the dragon is trying to hide or something with that brown paint scheme o_0

If you're finding yourself the target of 1 too many indirect LRM salvos, you might want to change your priority in battle to finding (and silencing) the Scout.

The 630m range of the LRMs means the fire support Mechs have to be within range as well (I hope the 'lock' doesn't sound until you're in effective range of the target)

The Author wrote down his experience in a very alive way - the fight evolves in your mind into a heroic struggle.
And poor Guy to make him suffer so and then tell him he would not have had to fight to the end to win^^

Dan Stapleton was, until recently, an editor for PCGamer magazine for a very long time. He's a big PC Gamer and a fairly sharp guy. It's not terribly surprising he saw the incredible depth and nuances of the game and enjoyed himself. I know he and Evan Lahti have had conversations about their enjoyment of past Mechwarrior titles, the lore, and depth of gameplay.

He's one of us. :)

Cheers.

All I honestly care about are the pictures of the mechlab. IGN got the hunchback 4G and Gamespy got the K2 screenshots, so who is getting the mechlab screenshots of the Atlas? Though I would like mech lab pictures of the regular C1 catapult hard points.

I wanna see some dragon variants in the mech lab, so I can start salivating over how awesome it will be :D
