Really, kids?
No information on server locations or details other than what you speculate here.
Pursang, you are in BC. You will most likely have one of the best pings of all of us; stop complaining and poking the trolls!
That wasn't my intention Grimm, and although I do have a decent internet connection (140Mbps) I know full well what it's like to play a game you really like with a bad internet connection. Considering that MW:O is an entirely online experience, this matter should not be considered in a flippant way. Nor should the concerns of people with less-then-good connections be dismissed out of hand - especially by saying things like "it's fine, deal with it".

(You misquoted me)
What i actually said was you learn to deal with it, you know it becomes skill based lag shooting is a prime example.
People with less than good connections will suffer regardless of what PGI do or do not do local region based servers do not change what is between the user and the server, there is no magic wand that will make it perfect for everyone, a 300 ping is perfectly playable, above that then yes you will have more troublesome issues.

Can you imagine where League of Legends or HON would be without regional servers? The hard-core-money-centric-centre wouldn't form outside of low ping areas. The same would follow for this game; the hardcore will not invest in a game where they are bound to have a handicap.
In order to be enticed into this game despite having play it in high ping you need to already be an entusiastic fan of the franchise - these players are far and few between. If the demands here are not catered, an entire market will remain untapped.

I know how you feel, this is the reason why I'd like servers within this region.
I must say, 180 ping is pretty good though - mine's around 300 all day. "Slow DSL" in Japan must equate to best plan avaliable over here. Can't complain though, back in Melbourne I couldn't get a decent connection without getting ripped off by ISPs and their exorbitant fees.

But for MWO i have no idea - i think they should try to have anything up to 300 ms playable well.

I think it is just a matter of having the programming in place to allow for higher ping players to still be ok. 200 - 300 ping should not cause someone to be visibly laggy in a comparatively slow paced game like MWO.

I pulled this quote right from the DEV announcement board:
Thirdly, the reason this announcement stated 'North America' is that it's for North American servers – As we have mentioned we are working very hard to launch MechWarrior Online in every region worldwide. We may also run a similar Operation for other regions, therefore we are required to recommend that for the best play experience you register and play in your region in the near future. However There is no IP blocking. You can signup from everywhere just keep in mind that if you are outside of North America we cannot guarantee your play experience.

I currently live in Singapore and will suffer around 300 ping if I played on American servers, this creates a hard limit on the enjoyability of the game and performance of a player.
Roles such as scouting and long range sniping becomes harder to play with high ping and will force players to choose short-medium range "tanky" mechs for better survivability. Further, nobody's going to want to have a lagger on their team. As it stands, there are lots of games with servers that will kick if your ping exceeds 100 and I reckon teams will quit and retry if they end up with a lagger while being matched.
[TL;DR] So I'd like to know if International servers will be rolled out, and if so, where? [/TL;DR] If not, why not? You'll lose quite a few players who have nothing better to do with their money than buy pink paint for their mechs.
As far as my experience tells me playing online in the South-East Asian region, servers in:
Perth, Malaysia, Singapore can serve the region effectively and has a player base that speaks and understands English. (10 ping average from Singapore)
Thailand, Taiwan, Korea, Japan boasts good bandwidth too - but if you don't speak the language then you'll be lonewolfing without communication. (50-100 ping average from Singapore)
NZ, Non-Perth Aussie servers play poorly outside of their region. Lag connecting to those outside of the country is comparable to North American servers. (300 ping average from Singapore)
however eve online runs off one server cluster in britain for the WHOLE game world wide and does fine....

Not everything is down to PGI to solve for you.
They can't alter your location, your connection, your ISP's server banks, Your ISP's policies on traffic routing.
One thing PGI should certainly not do, is shrink the player base by separating it down into regions.
Lag is a factor in any online game, even local servers do not produce lag free gaming.
They wont be shrinking the player base that much. For me, if there is no local server I wont buy in to it anyway.
