Then that's a messed up UAC, how are we supposed to tell a UAC from a RAC when the defining factor of a RAC is a multi barrel design?

Well look at the Urban Mech IIC, it exists long before RAC were invented. Yes it uses Ultra ACs.

Pretty pic, but that still doesn't answer the question, how are they supposed to show they're different when they release them in roughly 15 years, if they look exactly the same? Assuming the company survives that long, and they don't decide to make a time jump before then.

This is one of the main reasons why I steer clear of autocannons, the main reason being the inherent risks involved ie ammo critical hits and detonations.

Yeah, kinda the same in mine. I have two in their natural state...that is to say, in pieces, just to show where they stood. Complete waste of time and effort. A Locust would've have been more desireable (screw the law suit). At least it can absorb damage, in some cases actually deal damage, and it's the same speed.

Maybe UACs are multi-barreled, but not rotary? Gast-type guns have two fixed barrels, maybe there are some tri-barreled designs.

Kind of answered your own question there, didn't you? Current game year is 3049, RACs don't come about until '62, so clearly this can't be a RAC. I'd hoped that LiaoDavion Raven would leave his lore acumen beyond reproach, but apparently not.

And as to the flogging, you're welcome to stick your head into MWLL and give it a try. Personal experience has taught me that FD's handle comes from what he reduces other people to, not what he ends up as.

The defining characteristic of an RAC is its ability to dump stupid amounts of ammo downrange in a hurry and its tendency to overheat and jam whilst doing so.

Autocannons, particularly Ultra ACs, were fairly frequently mentioned as being multi-barrel arrangements in the fiction. Remember that saying "AC/20" is a lot like saying "assault rifle"; you're not talking about a specific weapon so much as a group of functionally-similar weapons. The Ceres Metals Crusher SH is a 150mm AC that fires in ten-round bursts; the ChemJet Gun is a 185mm AC that fires single shots--both of them are AC/20s. I recall (in Operation Excalibur, I believe) the Defiance Industries J-type guns firing 5-round bursts from rotary magazines that ejected after every burst as well.

You'll be happy to know the Cicada CDA-3M is equipped with a CASE in the RT. Granted, it does have an XL engine, but better to ride a gutted-but-intact Cicada into the dirt than to ride a mushroom cloud into the afterlife because your ammo bin cooked off and took the reactor shielding with it, right?

@ Easy 8: Joke aside, Locust are in no way better than a Cicada. Though to be fair the standard production Cicada aren't the best armed, or armored considering their weight class, but that's the trade off for speed. If you like, drop the engine down a size or two and you'll have more than enough weight to throw a PPC or two on there, depending on how fast you want to go.

@ Straylight: Yes yes, apparently UAC do sport a lot of mutli-barrel designs, though none of which have presented in any of the games to date but regardless, where do you draw the line between UAC and RAC from a visual stand point then?

Additionally, I don't care for CASE or any ammo reliant weapon, let alone light or XL engines. Take up too much space and too much weight with too much risk for too little reward. But with the imposed slotting system, by far the worst legacy from MW4 Mercs I can remember, we'll see if I won't be forced to endure having to pilot an ammo hog or two.

That aside, please don't mention MWLL here, that game while pretty to look at, is no step forward in the MW and BT world. It replicates the age old issues from all the previous MW titles, issues which the Devs have addressed and have implemented strategies to solve. Strategies which hopefully will succeed.
