The giant Decepticon about twice the size of Optimus from Transformers 2, that gets blasted by a rail gun?

US Navy Railgun fires a 8kg round at a bit over Mach 7. That is about 35MJ of power, or 35 million joules of kinetic energy. It completely destroys that big dude. On the other hand, the Heavy Gauss Rifle fires a 250kg round at around Mach 9. That is 1125MJ of kinetic energy. The Atlas can eat 2 of them to the torso.

Atlas completely stomps Optimus.

Atlas is like three times as big and can take anything Prime throws at it, whereas one blast from Atlas is going to leave Opti in pieces :)

Clearly Optimus is going to win; He has sentience and fine motor control skills. Atlas has a Gauss Rifle? Optimus has swords in his arms that can shear clean through the Atlas in one swing. Optimus ALSO has a massive cannon, courtesy of Jetfire.

i dunno bout this one... the atlas has the lead in power, armor and sheer size. but optimus has the advantage of speed, versatility and ebay.

A transforming truck that is armed with Ion blasters, swords that taper down to one atom, fine motor control skills and sentience? You overestimate Kerensky's abilities.

And lets not forget, Optimus possesses not only his trailer of goodies, but also undoubtably the most powerful weapon in the known universe. The weapon that slayed Unicron, the Matrix of Leadership!!!

Oh, by the way, look at any of the transformers cartoons or movies and tell me Optimus isn't more than 3 humans in height. I dare you! Heck, his hand alone is probably about 20 feet!

Yes but you forgot to factor in Micheal Bays movies which subtracts 100 awesome points :)

For the record, Iron Giant could wreck every single Autobot, Decepticon, and Smoke Jaguar out. At the same time.

The atlas is probably bigger than optimus.

but if you want to throw the "atlas cant fly" then here you go, a flying opponent.

Yeah, lets see Optimus take an AC/20 to the face lmao!
(hint, Optimus would die horribly)

Unless the Atlas is stuck in a shanty town alley and unable to move his arms, Atlas wins because transformers can be killed with 21st century technology. 31st century technology can be between 10 and 100 times more powerful.

Unfortunately, Optimus has 1*10^6 cool points to start with.

And for all his weaponry, he's still a giant lumbering robot. He couldn't even out-run that jeep. Optimus would close with him before he could fire off too many shots and start carving. Also, a single shot to the knee joint would take the Iron Giant out with ease. ...Reference not intended.

I'm sure I could bring down an Atlas with 21st century tech too (the only way they actually did kill any Transformers was with lucky shots to their sparks - anything else was rather ineffective). Even if that Atlas IS able to move his arms, Optimus is x20 more agile, and could easily avoid attacks aimed at him.

20 times more agile then arms on the Atlas? Is this fight starting 5 paces or something? Optimus is no faster then a Raven (or other mech that moves 97kph). If you jump into any Mechwarrior game, and jump in an Atlas and face a pack of light mechs, you will likely be able to hit them pretty easily. Yes, being able to roll and jump and dive will make it harder, but still an easy task for a competent pilot.

Yes, a mech could be destroyed by 21st century technology, but it would take a very very long time. An M1A2 Abrams has a 120mm cannon that clocks around 10MJ. An Atlas is capable of absorbing 2 Heavy Gauss shots, which are around 1000MJ (I calculated it). The Atlas would need to be shot 100 times (since BTech armor is ablative).

If the 4 medium lasers were focussed and fired at the same time, Optimus would be nicely chopped in half just by crossing the beams.

Not sure why the members of the MWO forum are arguing the virtues of Transformers. I thought this was the MWO furm...haven't we had enought of a Battletech/Mechwarrior dry spell to warrant BT/MW discussions of their very own? Why not leave discussions on Transformers, Eve Online, WOT, WOW, etc. to those very forum stes?

Jus' sayin'...don't be hatin'. :)

Let's see, a Raven has... 2 vectors of movement. Forward and backward. His traveling along those two vectors is pretty linear, at any given moment. Difficulty to hit: easy.

Optimus has... 1... 2...8 vectors of movement. His traveling along those 8 vectors at any moment is most definitely NOT linear. Difficulty to hit: *** is this?

I'm sure those lasers would do some serious damage if they hit Optimus. IF. See my above statement on why.
