I think the battle value system would work best. IS pick first and then the clan has to go under that.
This would take the tech difference into account for balancing games
So we could have the IS take 2 light lances and 1 medium lance and the clanner would only be able to take like 1 medium star. Making the resulting match 12 v 5. (I'm using the force selection chart from the Tukayyid book, but a more detailed system could be made too)

Another option could be that clanners would not have access to the mech lab at all. They could have 5-6 varieties of their Omni-mech, but cannot fine tune as the IS would. Like, "here are some pre-packaged styles but no self modification". So, basically, the clans become like the Apple of the mech world, ;)

Which makes no sense in canon, as OmniMechs are designed to be reconfigured in the field, where IS 'Mechs are going to need a MechBay and a talented tech and fabrication equipment in order to do something as simple as swapping a SmLsr for an MGun.

Well they did have the mobile field base in MW3, however they should still only be able to repair & rearm the current config.

Only allowing the best players to join the most advantaged side that has the best technology.....

I don't like this idea.

Not the most advantaged. They just have faster 'Mechs with heavier armor, more firepower, and better range. In exchange, they will be heavily outnumbered and unable to operate with the same level of cohesion as the Spheroid foe.

I'm just going to throw this out there now..... you can't convince me that you should only let the best players into the factions that have the best equipment. At least not without telling me exactly how they're going to be disadvantaged, because right now we haven't been given the facts on if they're going to be outnumbered or what level of cohesion they're going to get to play at.

If it came out as fact from a dev that those who play for the Clans are going to be outnumbered by roughly two to one *and* they were going to be strictly held to the honor system I could possibly be convinced. But otherwise, no.

A real question is if they put mercenary groups in like (wolfs dragoons) at some point. because if you follow lore you know they were being supplied by the clans and were relaying information back to the clans about the houses and tech available and who might pose a problem to their invasion to Terra.

i think that when it is time to enter duce the clans there should be one rep for each clan to take on 4 warriors for the star and gudge them by there player record just like the wolf dragoons did at the start of there inner sphere carreer. and work there numbers up. but my questain is are they going to do all clans or just the invading ones

i do agree with Haakon but the clan warriors where only the best of the best that was what clan warriors breed for.

and something else is that the clans fought with high teck but low numbers i star of light mechs to a inner sphere med to heavy lance

that was clan way

How the Clans are handled will be a make or break deal for the game as a whole IMO. Anyone who has ideas of trying of balance the Clan/IS dynamic in 3050 is woefully optimistic. While there may have been *very* local IS victories over the Clans (read: "survivors"), the only three planet-wide IS victories that I can recall were Wolcott, Luthien, and Tukeyyid, the last of which was won by Comstar and not the Houses. Cultural drawbacks or not, the unexpected invasion coupled with superior technology and superior pilots (yes they were superior overall, TT rules gave standard Clan pilots bonuses over standard IS pilots) was overwhelming.
